Younger Then at Mr. Goodbar (4/27/19)

Buffalo’s Younger Then ended a five-year hot streak with their final show at Mr. Goodbar on Friday, April 27th. Channeling their love of outsized alternative rock––U2, Arkells, Cage The Elephant, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, among others––the band combined richly-textured riffs with propulsive grooves, soaring vocals, and hooks as massive as the Grand Canyon. Playing to a packed house, the band pulled no punches, tearing through their greatest hits and fan favorites from their full-length album, “Bad Life” (Standby Records), and their self-titled debut EP. Though it was certainly bittersweet to commemorate the end of a talented group, the members of Younger Then––singer Zack Dupuis, guitarists Michael Wirth and Austin Dorr, drummer Jeremy Shields, and bassist Matt Dudek––are already planning their next moves, with a series of new projects in the works. Supporting acts included rust-belt rockers The Eaves and Rochester’s power-pop purveyors The Demos. The Eaves The Demos Younger Then

Tonight: The Traditional

Buffalo’s own The Traditional are back on home turf in honor of their latest album release. The band is celebrated as an angst-ridden, emo alt-rock ray of hope for the Western NY music scene, honing in on an organic, authentic sound that’s often hard to come by. The trio holds true to the ideal of producing genuine, soul-bearing music for anyone willing to listen, and their hardworking, grassroots mentality shows. With a sound similar to The Used, Brand New, and The Wonder Years, The Traditional pride themselves on having many influences but holding true to their very own unique sound. This band has a reputation for creating energetic, raw, and honest material, and their live performances are no exception. In honor of the March 17th release of their latest EP The Queen of Heaven, The Traditional have decided to lend their time and talents at The Waiting Room this Saturday[...]

Tonight: The Traditional CD Release

In case you missed our Album of the Week nod, tonight is your best chance to figure out what The Traditional is all about. On second thought, The Traditional actually is that hard to figure out – it’s passionate, simple emo music in the same vein as Bayside or Taking Back Sunday. Tonight’s show celebrates the release of the foursome’s debut full length, How To Live Without Blood. It also celebrates years of self-booked tours, relentless promotion, and a record deal. Supporting The Tradish tonight are Tresspassers, Alleys, The Slums, and Younger Then (whose name was inspired from an older Traditional song). Tickets are $10, we’ll see you at the Studio at the Waiting Room at 6:00.
