Swimming Tapes – “Tides”

London quintet Swimming Tapes sure know how to write a perfect dream-pop song. “Tides” is a woozy, reverb-drenched jam full of swimmy guitars and a thumping bassline. About the song, the band says, “Some memories are perfected by the passing of time, become dreamlike, intensified by the imagination. ‘Tides’ is about those kind of memories, a plea to somehow go back in time and live in their magic.” If you dig “Tides,” it is purchasable via iTunes. Swimming Tapes – “Set the Fire”

Swimming Tapes are a group of London newcomers making sun-drenched indie rock along the lines of Real Estate, The War on Drugs, or Smith Westerns. If our comparisons weren’t enough, “Set The Fire” sounds like woozy nonchalance on a summer day. Seeing as how this is only their second single, if Swimming Tapes continues on with this knack for writing reverb-drenched indie rock gold, their future will surely be bright. “Set The Fire” is out now via London’s Hand in Hive records. You can pick up the single on iTunes here.
