Quinton Brock is Taking All of Us “To The Moon”

Quinton Brock’s latest single “To The Moon” is everything you need right now in the year of our lord 2020, and it’s video directed by Shauna Presto is pure gold and the future Leftists dream of. The ever elusive Brock has previously offered us glimpses into his progressive and soulful vision hip-hop, but here it’s sunny and frankly gorgeous surf punk rock that’s rousingly,  joyfully alive thanks to his satisfyingly earnest melodies, some killer riffs and shredding from Griff Smith and Peter Enriquez, and some fat and swinging rhythm from bassist Don Hanson and drummer Gengis Don. The video from buffaBLOG alum Shauna Presto is pure summer, and a heavenly expression of freedom, love, and community, and everybody needs to get with it as soon as possible. Thanks.

Quinton Brock Unveils New Single “Rush for Love”

Former Buffalonian-turned New York soul crooner, Quinton Brock, strikes an emotional chord with his touching new single, “Rush for Love.” Off his upcoming EP, Scooter, Brock enlists the help of legendary Stone City Band bassist, Jerry Livingston, to bring this thoughtfully heartbreaking rendition to life. The vocalist will give you goosebumps as he pours his heart over an emotional beat stitched together with measured trumpets and pining strings. Slow down your day and give it a listen below. Scooter is out tomorrow (June 21st) but you can have a taste today.

Tonight: Matthew Danger Lippman

Matthew Danger Lippman returns to his hometown with some swagger headlining a seriously tight lineup tonight at the Mohawk. The former Brimstone Blondes frontman, current New Yorker, and eternal art rock spaceman is passing through on his way home to an undisclosed location in the Five Boroughs and will be playing selections from his tripped out but supremely soulful Refresh 2 Death EP. Opening the show will be The Get Money Squad’s Quinton Brock featuring Feverbox, slowcore mind shredders Award Show, and up and coming local indie darlings Johnny and the Man Kids, all for the tidy sum of $8. Doors open at 7pm. REFRESH 2 DEATH [EP] by Matthew Danger Lippman

Tonight: Feverbox

Mondays are terrible, it’s a scientific fact that’s generally agreed upon by all, and for good reason. The weekend is over and the next seems far away because the work week is long, plus there’s usually not much happening on Mondays, and when there is sometimes it feels a little like an imposition because after all, it’s Monday. But the good people at Asbury Hall and The Ninth Ward just might have what we need with their new Weekend Mondays: no cover, drink specials, good bands with good sound, with an inaugural edition tonight featuring local indie rockers Feverbox, psych rock behemoth in the making Deadwolf, Get Money $quad’s Quinton Brock, and DJ Miosi spinning tunes. Weekend Monday starts at 7pm. See you there.

The Get Money Squad Drops Debut Single, “Back Again”

Last night, Quinton Brock of Network and producer Jon Bap debuted an interesting new project called The Get Money Squad. The pair is prepping the release of a debut EP and have shared their first single, titled “Back Again.” Those familiar with Network’s Death Grips inspired live shows will be pleasantly surprised to hear laid back, chiming guitars, and the smooth vocals of Brock, drawing comparisons to the latest albums from both Mac DeMarco and Ducktails. Check out “Back Again” below and keep an eye on the band’s soundcloud page for future tracks.
