PUP at Studio at Waiting Room (05/18/17)

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. After making their Buffalo debut at the Studio in 2014 and playing there once a year since, they finally sold it out. Following the release of their latest LP, The Dream is Over,  the Toronto pop punk four piece have steadily been gaining popularity, and at that showed at their performance.  Going as down as one of the more insane crowds I’ve seen at the Waiting Room, the packed house didn’t slow down for a minute over the course of the bands hour long set.   The show was opened with an awesome set by Prawn, who played with PUP the last time they were in Buffalo as well.   Check out some photos from the insane night below, shot by blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. Tonight: PUP

Can we just go ahead and make PUP honorary Buffalonians already? Tonight marks PUP’s umpteenth return to the Queen City, and for good reason. Every time this quartet comes around, they bring a raucous live show brimming with unparalleled energy. They’ve brought along the perfect tourmates to boot – peppy Topshelf math/emo act Prawn is in tow tonight. PUP will be shredding at the Waiting Room this evening. Doors are at 7pm and tickets are $16 presale, $18 at the door. <iframe style=”border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;” src=”https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=3847837544/size=large/bgcol=ffffff/linkcol=0687f5/tracklist=false/artwork=small/track=3521443435/transparent=true/” seamless><a href=”http://puptheband.bandcamp.com/album/the-dream-is-over”>The Dream Is Over by PUP</a></iframe>

Tiny Moving Parts at Waiting Room (05/31/16)

This past Wednesday night, the emos came out in droves to see Tiny Moving Parts at Waiting Room. The band has played Buffalo more than a few times over the past couple of years, and have built a strong local following. With relatable lyrics and a boisterous live show, the crowd was on its feet and singing along the whole show, partly due to some stellar opening sets from Buffalo’s own Alleys, as well as touring acts Free Throw and Prawn.  Check out some photos from the show below, and click HERE for a full gallery. Tonight: Tiny Moving Parts

Tonight, Waiting Room once again proves it is the place to be for staked emo gigs as Minnesota’s Tiny Moving Parts will be making yet another stop in Buffalo,  this time in support of their newest release, Celebrate.  Also making a repeat stop will be indie-emo act Prawn, along with Nashville’s Free Throw. Tonight is the night to get sad. Doors open at 6:30pm with a showtime of 7pm, and local act Alleys will be kicking the show off. Tickets are only 14 bucks at the door.

Prawn

Tonight: Prawn

I saw a separate Prawn/Del Paxton show last March at The Lair, and it was an experience I can most closely (and I guess weirdly) compare to cracking a fresh egg on the rim of a frying pan. It was my first time seeing Del Paxton live, my first time really getting into Prawn, and I was genuinely excited about everything I was hearing. The show did not disappoint. If you weren’t at that show last year, fear not. Prawn and Del Paxton are headlining Dreamland tonight. Prawn’s post-rock sound is hypnotic, but not without inciting some type of visceral response, which makes for the perfect type of band to see in such an intimate setting. Del Paxton has recently joined the Topshelf family along with Prawn, and it is a well deserved membership. I’m consistently impressed with the trio’s live set and I’ve seen these guys a handful of times[...]

Tonight: Prawn

This isn’t the first time Top Shelf Records has sent one of their top-tier emo revivalist bands through Buffalo – tonight’s offering is Prawn, whose clean guitars and angsty vocals sound like Joan of Arc if they calmed down a little and tried to put a little structure to their songs. Tonight’s show is at The Lair and starts at 6:00pm. The support for tonight is incredible, featuring Buffalonian support from Del Paxton, Figurehead, and Alleys. Rochester is sending over Barbarossa. $10.
