Faux Leather Jacket’s Trevor Courneen Launches Audible Handshake Podcast

Late last month, Trevor Courneen, member of Rochester’s alt-country outfit, Faux Leather Jacket, launched a new podcast series titled Audible Handshake. The first two episodes featured interviews/chats with fellow Rochester musicians Katie Preston of Pleistocene and Howlo‘s Ben Morey. “I wanted to start the podcast because for the past few years that I’ve lived in Rochester, I’ve met a lot of cool people,” begins Courneen. “People in the music scene, the art scene, the food scene, etc., I consider many of them friends at this point, but the truth is, I know very little about them beyond what they do. Katie and Ben are exceptions to this obviously because I’ve been good friends with them for a few years (which is why they were the first two, I knew I’d be comfortable and it would get me used to the process).” The podcast is more than just friendly talk with musical friends, but[...]

Pleistocene

We’ve been doing it so long it’s not even mandatory when the blog’s party people book a Rochester band to a buffaBLOG party. It’s no secret that we love Rochester and the crazy on fire music scene it’s got going right now, and we love bringing some of it to you at our Allentown shindigs. This year’s Holiday extravaganza this Saturday at Duke’s will include one of Rochester’s next big things, fuzzed out surf pop shoegazers Pleistocene, in town to play some stoned out garage jams from their 2014 digital album Ontario Girls (included below for your enjoyment). Picking up wonderfully where Best Coast left off, Pleistocene has everything going for them, and their show this Saturday ought to be one of the highlights of the night.

Just Announced: buffaBLOG Holiday Party

And just like that, the holidays have arrived. After the pummeling South Buffalo and the south towns took from #snowvember last week, and the unfortunate flooding that comes from 80 inches of snow getting hit with 60 degree weather, people could use a little pick me up around here, and for some, the holiday season could not have come at a better time So, as things start to get back to normal in the Buffalo area,  we are happy to announce the latest edition of our buffaBLOG Holiday Party. This time around, our eclectic cast of WNY acts will include Radarada, Newish Star, Pleistocene, The Slums, and DJ Pizza Pizza, all ready to help ring in the holiday spirit on Allen Street. The party will go down at our holiday home base of Duke’s on Saturday, December 20th. Music will kick off at 10pm and run all night long. Cover[...]

Tonight: Pleistocene

Take a night off from Allen and hang out with area co-eds at Mr. Goodbar tonight as the college bar welcomes Rochester’s Pleistocene. Fronted by Katie Preston, a former member of Fredonia based act Giving Up The Otter and old school Steak & Cake alumni, the four piece specializes in fuzzy, female fronted indie-rock that should fit in well with fans of Bleached, Best Coast, or even Metric. Their early 2014 releases, Ontario Girls, is still one of our favorite albums out of the 585 area code this year. Check it out at their bandcamp page if you want to hear for yourself. Rounding out the local bill are West Side basement regulars Supergoner, Cross Stitch, and Hot Tip. All of this talent can be head tonight for the low price of $3. Music kicks off at 11pm.
