Coyóte – “Dirty Work”

Glammy quartet Coyóte caught our ears with their latest jam, “Dirty Work.” The song is a dirty spiral into the mind of a manic pixie type, aurally envisioned through their use of blunt guitar work, dance-heavy rhythms, and soulful vocals. Fans of The Growlers or The Clientele will surely get down to this one. Peep the track below and be on the lookout from this plucky foursome. Mt. Doubt – “Tourists”

Mt. Doubt is an Edinburgh-based collective whose “Tourists” has been on rotation in the buffaBLOG office as of late. Most notable is frontman Leo Bargery’s distinct baritone delivery, which saunters smoothly overtop the band’s warm indie rock instrumentals. Fans of Morrissey, Father John Misty, or The National should give this one a spin. “Tourists” is available on Bandcamp. Baby Galaxy – “New Flavors”

Baby Galaxy is a trio from the Netherlands with a pretty stellar new single… “New Flavors” is wrangled and loud, highlighting bent guitar chords, aggressive basslines, and pounding drum beats. There’s a hint of 80s noise and college rock in there, but all in all this rowdy single sounds fresh and fun, especially the explosive ending. We’re sure you’ll like this one, so head over to their Bandcamp page and snag it. Heron – “Ender”

On their new song “Ender,” post-rock quartet Heron were “trying to capture the feeling of being submerged in a violent sea.” Let’s just say the seven-minute track does a good job at taking you on that journey… The instrumental band uses guitar to emulate tumultuous waves and an eerie calm before swelling back into a maelstrom to finish things up. Fans of Explosions in the Sky, Pink Floyd, or Kyuss will dig this one. If you’re digging these vibes, snag “Ender” on iTunes. Oliver Riot – “Omen”

Identical twin duo Oliver Riot caught our attention recently with “Omen,” a gentle alterna-pop offering along the lines of Passenger or James Blake. The twins, aka Alexander and Benjamin Moore, recently won first place in the Grammy’s “Rock The Mic” competition and for good reason – their use of violin, cajon, and other left-field instruments gives their music an incandescent and classic feel. Give ’em a follow on Instagram too. Del Paxton – All Day, Every Day, All Night

What’s left for us to say about Buffalo hometown heroes Del Paxton? Dylan England, Zach Schoedel, and Greg McClure have been keeping our hearts thumping in odd time signatures for the last four years. That span of time has seen the trio rise from basement-shredding all-stars to their current gig, a coveted spot on the Topshelf Records roster. At the advent of last year, Del Paxton bundled up with Jay Zubricky at GCR studios here in Buffalo. Those sessions eventually became their first full-length, All Day, Every Day, All Night. Album opener “My Other” is a nod to Buffalo city-living, referencing the maze of one-ways that one might encounter on the wrong side of Richmond Avenue. From song one, it’s obvious that stylistically, Del Paxton have stuck to their guns, and rightfully so – it’s what has made their previous two releases so enjoyable. Their brand of mathy, indie-flavored emo specializes in time[...]

HIDEOUT – “I Got Your Message”

Last time we checked in with Manhattan based glam-popper Hideout (known colloquially as Gabriel Rodriguez, who is also a member of Cults), we were raving about his cosmic jam, “Changing Us All.” This time around, we’re digging the collage-like appeal of his latest video for the song “I Got Your Message.” Adding a colorful and creative visual appeal to his delightfully spacey indie rock, this jam will appeal to fans of Kurt Vile, The Walkmen, or Bombay Bicycle Club. Hideout’s Bandcamp page can be found here.

Her’s – “Speed Racer”

With its frantic beats and wonky surf vibes, we’re clearly vibing on Her’s‘ latest offering, “Speed Racer.” The song is a fast paced and lighthearted romp about one night stands and being a wild young thing. Combining sultry baritone vocals with a signature descending guitar/bass riff, this one is a perfect way to get yourself feeling froggy. Swing by iTunes if you dig it. Lazy Legs – “Soft Skull”

Ready to shred your ears? Chicago power trio Lazy Legs hit us up with “Soft Skull,” a crunchy and frantic blast of shoegaze energy. Think a wall of thick guitar noise and wild drums coupled with ghostly vocals… right up our alley. Fans of True Widow, Pity Sex, or No Joy will like this one. Swing by Bandcamp to snag this one. inHarmony – Firework (Hollywood Principle Remix)

We think you should check out this killer remix by 18-year-old wunderkind inHarmony. The German youngster specializes in acid jazz, soul, and r&b, which certainly comes out in his remix of Hollywood Principle’s song “Firework.” His addition of insanely funky slap bass is a major highlight, but all in all this is the kind of remix that gets you moving and grooving. Dappled Cities – “Stone Men”

We think Aussie quintet Dappled Cities should be on your radar – we’re digging their latest jam, “Stone Men.” Combining swelling retro synth swells, a thumping bassline, and a chill vibe overall, this one is perfect for relaxing on your commute home. Fans of Phoenix, The 1975, or MGMT will find common ground in this one. Patch Kid – “This Old Bird”

Patch Kid is the mathy indie rock brainchild of Brooklyn-based musician Sam Palumbo. Mostly written in the brutal winter of 2015, the songs on his debut Bad At Friends are a reflection of Palumbo’s transition from Philadelphia to NYC, and the struggle to find balance between making new friends while keeping your old ones. We recommend “This Old Bird” for its noodly guitar work and unique chord progressions. You can also check out Patch Kid on Bandcamp. Over The Trees – “Dirt From Yesterday”

Ooooh yeah, we’re digging Norwegian indie rockers Over The Trees, especially their latest jam, “Dirt From Yesterday.” The quintet combines vibes from bands like Radiohead, Sigur Ros, and Blonde Redhead, making “Dirt From Yesterday” into a swirly and fuzzy wall of sound. The lilting falsetto vocal melodies are just the cherry on top. Keep your eyes open for their debut album, due out sometime in 2017. Till then, add “Dirt From Yesterday” to your Spotify playlist. Dan San – “The Call”

Belgian act Dan San recently sent us the music video for their latest single, “The Call.” Featuring some truly unique animation of a drowning city, their video brings strong imagery to life that matches the downtrodden feel of the song, “The Call” had our attention from start to finish. Having recently racked up over 20,000 views on Vimeo, this one is worth a watch. Not to mention, we dig their use of harmonies and gentle indie-pop instrumentation. Peep Dan San’s discography over at Bandcamp.

Crywolf – “Weight”

You might recognize Crywolf from his energetic dance music hits… If that’s the case, you might be surprised by his latest endeavor, the acoustic ballad “Weight.” Sounding a bit like Band of Horses or City and Colour, Crywolf has crafted something really beautiful here through use of gentle falsetto, layered vocal harmonies, and a plodding acoustic guitar. Definitely a good listen. Swing by iTunes and download “Weight” if you know what’s good for you.
