Wanderwild – “In Due Time”

Indie-pop band Wanderwild are fresh out of the gates with a new album, the nine-song In Due Time. Fans of Young The Giant, Bleachers, or Cold War Kids will dig the accessible indie rock vibes from this one. Learn more about Wanderwild here.

Pizzagirl – “Favourite Song”

“For best results, listen in 1987 at night…” Pizzagirl nailed it on the self-reflection when referring to his latest single, “Favourite Song.” Beyond the warm bedroom-pop vibes, “Favourite Song” has an instantly recognizable chorus utilizing plenty of “do-do-dos.” Not to mention the irresistibly retro vibes that propel the song. Fans of 80s synthpop or emotional lo-fi jams should surely give it a listen below. If “Favourite Song” is your new favorite song, peep some listening options here.

Wild Child – “Sinking Ship”

Austin TX act Wild Child recently caught our ears with the gentle musings of “Sinking Ship.” The sparse, stripped-down track features a beautiful performance from singer Kelsey Wilson, who says the song was inspired by a Shel Silverstein book about love and loss. A gently strummed acoustic guitar is her main accompaniment, peppered with moments of piano and a heartbeat-esque drum beat that really sets the song off. Wild Child’s next album, Expectations, will be out February 9th on Dualtone Records.

Post Prom Releases Debut Music Video for “Cyclical”

Newly-minted Buffalo quartet Post Prom just released a music video for their debut single, “Cyclical.” The video features a cameo from fellow Buffalonian Elliott Douglas (who you may recognize from MAGS), and is a simple but poignant demonstration of how one’s day-to-day life might begin to seem, well, “cyclical.” Most importantly, “Cyclical” is a great introduction to Post Prom’s cathartic blend of pop-punk and emo, combining a unique 3/4 time signature with heartfelt vocal harmonies and twangy guitars. If you like what you hear, “Cyclical” is available on Bandcamp for free.

Kasbo – “Snow In Gothenburg”

Swedish producer Kasbo‘s goal in life is to make you want to dance and cry at the same time, and that’s entirely evident on his new jam, “Snow in Gothenburg.” Pairing deep bassy synths with twinkly piano tones and breathy vocals, “Snow” really does conjure images of fluffy, serene snowfall… Not to mention, the distinctly introspective vibes pair nicely with the song’s lyrical themes of loneliness and isolation. Like what you hear? Learn more about Kasbo here.

Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS? – “Bambi Act”

Last time we checked in with the curiously-named Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS?, we were vibing on the light-hearted garage pop of “Magic Swimming Pants.” We’re happy to announce they are back with an equally sunny offering in “Bambi Act.” The track clocks in at less than two minutes, and features crunchy guitars, squiggly synths, and ever-so-subtly slurred vocals that are nothing short of infectious. Give this one a listen and get giddy. “Bambi Act” is out now via VILD music.

Eyedress – “Separation Anxiety”

Philippines act Eyedress is a master of the lovelorn and lovesick, and that’s never been more evident than in his new video for “Separation Anxiety.” Washed out with millennial pinks and purples, the video highlights Eyedress’ knack for cold and apathetic bedroom pop. Chorus-laden guitars, canned drumbeats, and Eyedress’ distinct vocal and lyrical style are true highlights here – check out the vid below. Eyedress’ debut album, Manila Ice, is out now via Lex Records.

Tim Legend – “Telescope (feat. Transviolet)”

South Carolina-based producer Tim Legend teamed up with dusky vocalist Transviolet for his latest banger, a pop thunderstorm by the name of “Telescope.” An inescapable piano riff drives this one, backed up by bouncy rhythms, epic synth work, and an ambient guitar intro. In the case of this song, simplicity is everything – nothing wrong with a feel-good pop gem to get your day going. This one’s a real earworm – add it to your Spotify playlist.

Catalina – “Alvarado”

Oooh yeah, calmness and simplicity are two words that come to mind when listening to Catalina’s newest jam, “Alvarado.” The duo of Jakob Shaw and Eric Poretsky have filled the song with subtlety; the plunking bass and the gentle swelling of keyboards throughout the track is ultra-pleasant to the ears… Put this one on during a mid-afternoon chill sesh, we think you’ll be better off for it. Add it to your “chill” playlist on Spotify.

Tonight: This Day & Age

In the early to mid 2000s, Tonawanda act This Day & Age were hometown heroes. After inking a record deal with One Eleven records, they released two beloved albums, 2004’s Always Leave The Ground and 2006’s The Bell and the Hammer. Between that time, TD&A evolved from a light-hearted, emo-pop band to a nuanced and jazzy quintet, lush with electric piano and complex arrangements. After a 10+ year absence, they are finally reuniting tonight at the Town Ballroom for a long-overdue revisit to those two albums. Opening up the show are fellow 2006-ers Common Kings, as well as americana-rockers The Eaves and indie-rock mainstay MAGS. Tickets are $20 presale and $25 at the door. Doors are at 6pm, music starts at 7pm.

Typhoon – “Rorschach”

Typhoon is an octet (!) from Portland, OR whose latest single has us in somewhat of a tizzy. “Rorschach” is a great starter point for the group’s unique post-pop approach, acting a single which is actually a snippet of a greater movement (titled Floodplains) that the band released back in October. The full album, titled Offerings, will be out in October… Until then, start digesting the intricate guitar work, intimate vocal delivery, and left-field instrumentation that “Rorschach” has to offer. Fans of Manchester Orchestra, Dear and the Headlights, or Floodplains is currently on Spotify, be sure to add “Rorschach” to your playlist.

L.A. Salami – “Generation L(ost)”

Don’t be fooled by the moniker L.A. Salami – he’s actually a prolific songwriter from London. His latest music video for “Generation L(ost)” is a series of live clips that bring his frantic and urgent indie rock to life. In summation, lyrically the track is “about feeling lost during the journey of finding yourself,” whilst the accompanying video “is what you do whilst on that journey.” Do yourself a favor and check it out below. If you like Salami, he’s got you covered… You can purchase/stream/enjoy his music via a variety of platforms, all located here.

The Whiskey Circle – “Sweet Darlin”

The Whiskey Circle just released a new album called Into The Valley, and their first single, “Sweet Darlin” is getting us amped. This is a guitar-driven banger if we’ve ever heard one, pairing jangly tones, angelic female vocals, and big pop hooks. About the song, the band says: “It’s about all the things you do throughout the day to take your mind off being away from your significant other and how you long for their return. It’s about that young, foolish big love that has no bounds and inspires.” Here is the link to The Whiskey Circle’s Bandcamp. Be sure to stop by.

Holy Golden – “Arrival”

Holy Golden are a spacey duo who juxtapose dream-pop vibes with lo-fi garage sentiment. We’d like to draw attention to their latest single, “Arrival,” which has been rubbing us in just the right way all week. The duo is more formally known as Leslie Schott and Andrew Valenti; their compositions have drawn comparisons to groups like The Cranberries, The Cardigans, and Cocteau Twins backed by grungy acts like The Jesus and Mary Chain. Holy Golden has an entire website where you can learn more about them… Check it out here.

KOALAS – “Lover”

Manchester synth-pop duo KOALAS sent us over their track “Lover” and we’re digging it a lot. Sincere 80s vibes permeate the entirety of this track – think lots of synths with tight and springy snare hits… Not to mention the duo’s close attention to pop melodies via catchy male/female harmonies. Fans of Caribou, Daft Punk, or Empire of the Sun will like this song. If you like “Lover,” head over to iTunes to snag a digital download.
