Love Ghost – “Just Another Sunday”

“Just Another Sunday” or another new track from Love Ghost? Well, it’s both… Even though it’s another Wednesday (currently). It’s also a collab with Jazz Moon, an Austrian musician! While I couldn’t find much info on her, she nonetheless has a magnificent set of pipes and we’ll hopefully hear more from her soon. Love Ghost, on the other hand, is Finnegan Seeker Bell, whom we’ve written about previously here and here (a fun album to bite into, also a collab).   The track itself is a hazy IPA with indie rock hops with notes of grunge malt adding to the sound (flavor?). Straight out of the bottle, the guitar is initially subdued but ebbs and flows with extra layers becoming evident, especially with the finish that fades out just over the three minute mark. IPAs aren’t for everyone, (and neither is beer, as my editor will attest) but this is[...]

Love Ghost – Memento Mori

Last time we checked in with LA-based act Love Ghost, we were emotionally crushed by the dark and heavy alt rock found on his collaborative album, Love Ghost x Skold. A mere four months later, the prolific Love Ghost, aka Finnegan Seeker Bell, is back with another batch of songs that really make you ponder the meaning of existence. Memento Mori is his new seven-song collection, a hard and harsh look at love, loss, and existential reckoning through a unique blend of influences, namely alt rock, emo trap, and Latin urban. Once again, he’s teamed up with a veritable dream team of collaborators – Deer, Plata, Verumicito, Young Aleexx, Katsu Energy, Ardis, and xKori and producers Berdu, Otho, Comisarios and Erving River. The laundry list reads long, but the result is unique and powerful – a blend of Spanish/English lyrics that cross the lines of both genre and culture with appeal from[...]

Love Ghost – Love Ghost x Skold

LA-based act Love Ghost is one of the most perfectly-named acts I’ve ever come across. Colloquially known as Finnegan Seeker Bell, he’s been making music since he was barely double-digits, cutting his teeth (and probably losing them simultaneously) at backyard gigs, small venues, and anywhere else that would have him. It’s led to this point in his journey – a collaborative, 13-song LP called Love Ghost x Skold (LGXS). Full of dark alt rock that slaps heavily of mid-aughts emo, Bell, alongside Tim Skold (who co-wrote all the songs and music on the album), tackles heavy topics, like death, witchcraft, and war with a dagger-wielding hand that cuts straight to the bone.   LGXS opens with a mysterious intro before launching into “Nightshade and Cocaine” – here, we’re first introduced to the hallmarks of LGXS’ sound. A tape-aged piano taps out haunting chords before a trap-inspired smattering of electronics creep out[...]
