Tonight: Kill the Clock

It is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to one of Buffalo’s great rock bands. Kill the Clock will be performing one last time tonight at Mohawk Place before they hang up their axes and finish the last chapter of what was a great a great career. The band, which has been active for close to a decade now, has released a multitude of records and EP’s, and has toured the country several times, capturing our hearts and becoming  a long time staple of the pop punk scene. Joining the gang on stage this evening are local emo boys Ghostpool, the always-entertaining Keep Flying, Ontario indie-poppers Harbour, and Pittsburgh pop-punkers Eternal boy. This is not going to be a show you’re going to want to miss. This is nearly a sell-out show, so if you haven’t gotten your ticket already, we suggest you get on that. Written by[...]

Tonight: SMUG Release Party

There’s a punk rock party tonight at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo as local favorites, SMUG, celebrate the release of their hotly anticipated debut album, Gorgeous. Formed in 2017, SMUG is a trio that’s been heating up the scene all year with addictively apathetic and high voltage punk tracks. Their combination of snobby vocals, kinetic riffs and hopscotch drumbeats is backed up with an infectious “fuck you” attitude that’s earned the trio a reputation as Buffalo’s baddest influences. Things are going to get rowdy so grab a beer, or two, with the cool kids and celebrate what’s sure to be an awesome record and even better performance. Showing their support are hometown pop punkers Kill the Clock. Featuring fast and emotionally fragile songs with catchy, scream-a-long choruses, this frenetic four-piece will get Nietzsche’s moving and your blood pumping. Rounding out this killer bill are Buffalo emo rockers, Cooler, and Rochester rockabilly duo,[...]

Tonight: IAMDYNAMITE

At some point in time, over the last ten years or so, 80’s music suddenly became cool again. People started getting hip to the fact that retro-style new wave was catchy as all hell and, honestly, just fun, fun music. This led to some great bands, a lot of so-so bands, and a legion of please-stop-now bands. Place IAMDYNAMITE in that first category. With an undeniably catchy sound found somewhere in the midst of the Police, Hall and Oates, and Modern English, IAMDYNAMITE has carved out a unique niche in the 80’s influenced pop world. To simply label them an “80’s retro band” does a great injustice. Pulling influences from a modern assortment of electronic music, current pop and pop-punk they have developed a sound that can only be described as their own. Tonight, IAMDYNAMITE are in town celebrating the release of their new album, Wasa Tusa. You can catch[...]
