Joy Downer – “Alright”

buffaBLOG mainstay Joy Downer knows how to write an indie-pop banger – we’re recommending their latest offering, “Alright.” With its bouncing bassline, simple-but-driven guitar strumming, and a nicely lilting vocal presence, “Alright” has all the markings of an iconic indie rocker. There’s something to be said about simplicity perfected, and “Alright” definitely falls into that category. Fans of The Strokes, St. Vincent, or even the vintage appeal of The Cars are gonna love this one. We’re Joy Downer stans over here at the blog – check out our previous writeups here, here, and here. Joy Downer – “A Song You’d Never Want to Hear”

The oxymoronically-named Joy Downer just put out a new banger called “A Song You’d Never Want to Hear.” Combining elements of nu-disco and bouncy indie rock, “Song” feels fresh and bubbly without straying too far into sunny, wholesome territory. Instead we get a timeless-sounding jam that we think fans of Rilo Kiley or Jay Som are going to love. Keep your eyes open for Joy’s debut LP, due out June 5th. Until then, get down to “Song” via the YouTube widget below.

Joy Downer – “Plastic Wrap”

L.A. electropop duo Joy Downer get wrapped up in the throes of materialism in their track “Plastic Wrap.” Blossoming synth lines and steadfast vocals bind the track together, while the lyrics mull over the artificial, money-driven motives of high society. It’s playfully tongue and cheek with a glimmer of cynicism that we can all get behind. This is the duo’s latest single, with a follow up to their 2017 EP Radio Dreamer in the works. Until then, tune into “Plastic Wrap” below.

Joy Downer – “Caught In Your Spell”

You should check out married LA duo Joy Downer – their latest single is a jangle-pop gem, affectionately titled “Caught In Your Spell.” The song is anchored by dreamy, shimmery synths and groovy rhythms. About the song, singer Joy Bishop says, “Have you ever met someone that made you dance the fine line of being a stalker and letting that person know you’re interested?” Well said, Joy.
