Foresteater – “Pretend Land”

Phoenix, AZ’s singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mikey Pro, brings us “Pretend Land,” a sugary and delightful new single from his candygrunge act, Foresteater. The track features bubblegummy, yet despondent vocals floating over a tie dyed smorgasbord of pop-rock melodies that crest with an irreverent sing-a-long chorus making for a catchy, ironic listen. Indulge your sweet tooth and schedule a trip to the dentist with this cavity-causing tune below. Skip over to Foresteater’s website here or SoundCloud here for more tracks and videos.

Foresteater – “Avalanche”

Foresteater’s “Avalanche,” a new track for the new year from the Phoenix-based project fronted by singer-songwriter Mikey Pro, rests on a spick-and-span pop-rock sheen and a strong lyrical pull. Its jangling guitar and fantastic harmonies help shape the tune with pure catchiness. The tune alludes to the feeling of “barely hanging on” internally but “keeping it together” enough to avert any visible disturbance and carrying on as an apparently normal human being. This self-controlled emotional turmoil is addressed through metaphor as the “avalanche” of the song’s title. Check it out below:

Foresteater – “Big Deceiver”

Indie singer/songwriter Foresteater harnesses some sweetly-psychedelic forces with his new single “Big Deceiver.” The song begrudges the infuriatingly fake friend often found in today’s online-centric culture, but manages to make it sound like an endearing love song through upbeat melody lines, syrupy harmonies, and conscientious guitar interjections. It’s thoughtful and cutting, encapsulated in the most enamoring of tunes. For more of Foresteater, check out his debut EP Nightlife of the Exploding Heads. Foresteater – “Very Friendly People”

Foresteater is the moniker for Phoenix, AZ musician Mikey Pro. His new single, “Very Friendly People” caught our ears earlier this week for sounding like the dude from Placebo started singing for Death Cab for Cutie. What we’re actually trying to say is – Foresteater has a real knack for writing shiny pop hooks in a perfect indie rock package. “Very Friendly People” is a great place to start.
