Church Girls – “Telepathic Mind”

The Philadelphia four-piece by the name of Church Girls is back just in time for their EU/UK tour with new single “Telepathic Mind.” The crowds are going to be raging their faces off from country to country… Why? Perhaps it’ll be due to the high harking lyrics laid down in harmony, the heart racing tempo, or maybe the razor sharp shredding of guitars. One thing’s for sure, “Telepathic Mind” is going to be a song Church Girls take with them on future tours, making memories that fans can take home with them and look back on fondly. Church Girls – “Balance”

We first got into Philadelphia indie quartet Church Girls after catching them at Nietzsche’s over the summer. Although it was the band’s first foray into Buffalo, there was a confidence and commanding aspect to their performance that was truly gripping. In addition, it was revealed that the band features former Buffalonian Joseph Wright on guitar. Church Girl’s latest single “Balance” is an indie heavy hitter, reminiscent of some of the best of the 90s scene bands. Fans of Sleater Kinney, Pavement, or The Thermals would appreciate, along with the group chorus singalong hook. Check it out below and be on the lookout for the next time Church Girls are in town, we’ll be there.

Church Girls – “Just Like You”

Philly indie rockers Church Girls head up the release of their recent EP with their broody single “Just Like You.” The band combine a post-punk zeal with expressive lyricism, introspectively mulling things over, only to hit back hard with each return of the chorus. That initial guitar melody immediately hooks you, while frontwoman Mariel Beaumont’s vocals rise and fall over a kinetic instrumental foundation. It’s a raw and holistic approach to working through emotion, honing in on the bitterness and nostalgia, and fleshing it all out with some group vocals and hearty rhythm guitar. Get a taste for the track below, and find the band’s entire EP Home here.
