18 & Under Battle of the Bands Registration Starts Sunday

Are you 18 & under and looking for an opportunity to hop onto the local scene? Brandon Schlia, brains behind local label Steak & Cake Records, hopes to fast track your interest by organizing an 18 & Under Battle of the Bands set for this summer. The registration for the event starts this Sunday, May 19th at local all-ages space Sugar City between 5pm and 8pm. Inspired by monthly all-ages shows put on at his local YMCA, Schlia hopes to pass it forward with creating and fostering a younger demographic to the Buffalo music scene. Sunday’s registration will be the initial round of the event. In July, there will be a showcase featuring some of registered bands. Due to a scheduling conflict, WBNY’s highly anticipated Battle of the Bands at the Buffalo Iron Works has been moved up a night to Friday, April 24th. Submissions closed yesterday, while the finalists who will be competing at Iron Works will be announced in the next few weeks. Stay tuned…

WBNY’s Battle Of The Bands Accepting Submissions

Hot off a resurgent 2014, Buff State’s gift to Western New York music lovers WBNY 91.3 has announced they’re running a Battle of the Bands contest that culminates April 25th at Buffalo Iron Works . Between now and March 8th, prospective contestants can submit 3 ORIGINAL songs for consideration by a panel of august local luminaries including the News’ Jeff Meirs, the Public’s Corey Perla, and the Mohawk’s Marty Boratin, with six bands duking it out in the Cobblestone District this April for top prizes. 1st place wins 5 hours of studio time at Good Charamel Records and a gift certificate to Allentown Music, 2nd place gets $125 worth of screen printed shirts courtesy of Positive Approach and a $50 gift certificate to Spiral Scratch Records, and 3rd place receives a photo session with Photography By Nico and a $50 gift certificate to Black Dots.
