Just Announced: Taking Back Saturday

buffaBLOG is pleased to announce the creation of a new series aimed to bringing back emo music for ONE NIGHT ONLY (every couple of months) aptly titled Taking Back Saturday. Whether you were in on the “mics are for singing not swinging” feud, or if you were contemplating the perfect song to type into your listening to section of LiveJournal, Saturday, September 19th is the night for you. Expect hits from Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day, Drive-Thru selects, and deep cuts from the likes of American Football. It will all be there. The inaugural event will have DJ sets from Cute is What We Aim For’s Jeff Czum, Mandy K’s Anthony Musior, and In Motion’s Nick Sessanna. Fun starts at 10pm with a $5 cover. Wear a discontinued band t-shirt.

Tonight: Matt Pryor

Matt Pryor is one of those men who unintentionally became one of the founding fathers of a genre that would eventually come to be called “emo.” He and his band, The Get Up Kids, conquered the late 90s and early 00s with a string of passionate and critically acclaimed albums full of emotional indie rock.  He’s here in Buffalo tonight for an intimate acoustic show with a cast of other emo/pop punk greats. Joining Pryor is Bob Nanna (Hey Mercedes/Braid), Steve Soboslai (Punchline), Mark Rose (Spitalfield), and Anthony Musior from Buffalo-based band The Traditional. Doors are at 7:00pm, only $12 at the door. Tonight’s show has been moved to The Gypsy Parlor. All tickets purchased from The Waiting Room will be honored.
