Ruby Cube is a young quintet who impressed us with their latest release, “Blood In Love.” Their influences range from Joy Division to Two Door Cinema Club to Metronomy, but “Blood In Love” showcases a sound all their own. Gypsum is a post-rock band based out of Los Angeles – we recommend their latest single for your listening pleasure. “Disappear” is the band’s second single; about “Disappear,” the band says: “[The song is] a cosmically ill-fated love story in a lush sonic landscape of psychedelic guitar work layered over rooted, groovy bass guitar & drums.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves! VedeTT – “Temple”

French surf-poppers VedeTT hit us up with the delightful “Temple” and we think it’s worth a listen. The Angers (France) act is quasi-mysterious, but that didn’t stop us from hunting down some info. We dig “Temple” for it’s good vibes, refreshing simplicity, and ambient vocal delivery. Recommended to fans of Beach House, Surfer Blood, or DIIV. Dead Horse Beats – “Dive”

We stumbled upon the video for Dead Horse Beats‘ new track, “Dive” and we think it’s worth a watch. The video was created over a two year period; the visuals to the track tell a somber tale of heartbreak. A vintage camera shot paints a picture of a relationship past – then the video takes a turn into the HD present. Not to mention, the trio has a contemporary sound that sits somewhere in between the dance stylings of Cashmere Cat, with a folky tinge a la Bon Iver. Who says music videos are dead? Shy Luv – “Joyrider”

If you’re a fan of disco meets funk-punk meets electronic, we recommend listening to UK duo Shy Luv. They are a perfect musical mix-up of a plethora of influences – from Talking Heads to Hot Chip and anywhere in between – while still feeling distinctly 2016/17. “Joyrider” is where you should start… It combines clacking percussion with funky bass lines and breathy vocals. Tonight: We Are Scientists

Brooklyn-based indie rockers, We Are Scientists, are slated to play Buffalo’s Studio at Waiting Room this evening for an undoubtably great kick off to a post-Thanksgiving work week. The band, which has been going strong for 15+ years, found their big break with 2006’s With Love and Squander. We Are Scientists post-punk/indie pop styling with a comedic edge is incredibly catchy and engaging and not to be missed. If you are a fan of The Wombats, The Futureheads, or even The Tins for a local spin, then this show is for you. Doors at 7pm with a $15 cover.
