Babe Club – “Need a Girl (remix by whimsy)”

Synthpop duo Babe Club and producer whimsy (Jaani österman from Tampere, Finland) teamed up to create this excellent remix of BC’s “Need a Girl.” The duo’s patented blend of Blondie-meets-Cardigans vibes is perfect easy-listening… With whimsy’s touch, the song gets a perfect pop-chop treatment while still honing in on singer Jenna Desmond’s heartfelt lyrics about being the only girl in a band. This one has been in our heads all week… Check it out below, on Soundcloud, or on Spotify. Babe Club · Need a Girl (whimsy Remix)

Glom – “Again”

Last time we checked in with NYC sextet Glom, we were waxing poetic about their starry-eyed, hook-laden single “Fungus.” They’re back with a new song, this time with the jammy, mid-tempo simmer of “Again.” This one never quite bubbles over the top – it has us grooving along without ever getting our blood boiling. In that way, it’s a refreshing demonstration of how to write a tastefully subdued song… Just make sure you stick around for the fuzzed-out solo. Check out again below – it can also be found on Spotify.

Worse In Person – “Mouth Breather”

Seattle’s Worse In Person know a thing or two about writing an indie rock gem – just take one listen to the jangly “Mouth Breather” for proof. This one is full of late 90s slacker rock energy with a hint of mid 00s indie rock bombast… Think Pavement-meets-Band of Horses-meets-Built to Spill. With lots of gang-vocal flavor and blue note guitar leads, this one definitely got us going. Have a listen for yourself below and see if it does the same for you… They’ve also got a Bandcamp if you prefer to listen that way.

hamburger – “All Hail Zebulon!”

Loving this lighthearted slice of slacker-pop from quirky sextet hamburger. “All Hail Zebulon!” is full of eclectic lyrics about teenage alienation (pun intended) and warm, warbly instrumentals, perfect for fans of Beck, Mac Demarco, or Radical Face. It’s clear this band doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and that effervescent vibe comes across in their music in the best possible way. Check it out below, swing by Spotify, or get ready for their upcoming EP on Bandcamp. Teenage Terrified by hamburger

MOY – “At My Door”

UK act MOY are sure to blow out your eardrums with the bombastic, guitar-driven vibes of “At My Door.” This one brings to mind the fuzzy melodies of the Smashing Pumpkins with the quiet-loud verse/chorus structures of Pixies… All wrapped in a modern indie-rock package. Full of ear-catching vocal melodies, “At My Door” is a dead ringer for any enjoyer of modern indie rock. MOY has also released a uniquely animated music video for “Door,” which you can check out below. It’s also available on Spotify.

DOLLY ZOOM – “Rabbit Hole”

Brisbane quartet DOLLY ZOOM are genre-defying masterminds whose “Rabbit Hole” recently snagged our ears. Falling somewhere between synthpop, psychedelic rock, and dream pop, “Rabbit Hole” is a swirl of synth arpeggios, catchy pop hooks, and dark vibes. This one is full of introspective lyrics and melancholy melodies, perfect for gloomy and moody fall listening (but still catchy enough for any-season jamming). Check them out via Soundcloud below or Spotify if that’s more your speed. DOLLY ZOOM · Rabbit Hole

Natalie Schlabs – “Don’t Look Too Close”

Digging this jam from Nashville-based songwriter Natalie Schlabs. “Don’t Look Too Close” is a new direction for Natalie – she’s veered away from her country roots into something more akin to indie rock. “Close” is full of cool delayed guitar stabs, driving drums and bass, and of course Schlabs beautiful vocals… Not to mention the cool, start-stop music video treatment that she’s given this one. This one goes down smooth – watch the vid below and keep an eye out for her next LP, also titled Don’t Look Too Close, due out October 16.

TYNT – “PLUME”

Hong Kong-based TYNT is an eclectic indietronica act who specialize in emotional and melancholic tunes with tinges of shoegaze and industrial woven throughout. They caught our collective ears with the hypnotic pop energy of “PLUME.” TYNT have an uncanny ability to write distinctly pop-based songs with experimental facets tastefully splashed in. If you dig The Naked and Famous, The Depreciation Guild, or Slowdive – check this one out.

Creature Comfort – “Black Cat”

Loving this latest jam from Nashville indie poppers Creature Comfort. “Black Cat” is a guitar-based banger, full of sunny indie rock energy and interesting rhythmic play (not to mention that heady flanger). Big vocal melodies, sing-along oh-ohs, and a significant vibe change mid-song is what really takes this one to the next level for us. Check it out below via YouTube or swing by their Spotify for more tasty jams.

Stray Fossa – “Are You Gonna Be Okay

If you’re an avid buffaBLOGGER, you know we’ve been paying close attention to shoegazy VA act Stray Fossa for at least a few years now. Their latest jam is “Are you Gonna Be Okay” – continuing their trend of bedroom-pop greatness, the trio pairs hush-hush vocals with blasts of synth, warbled out guitar twinkling, and big snazzy basslines. Stick around for the end of the song for an exceptionally cool aural treat – check it out below or snag it from Bandcamp.

Head on out to Nietzsche’s tonight for a night to get lost in your thoughts. Buffalo’s residential existential pop star Koko Neetz is bringing the party favors and atmospheric scenery out to play in celebration of his EP release  i.t.t.i.p.  Neetz, the moniker for Buffalo-based musician Andrew Kothen, has been a staple of the local music scene these past couple years, mostly known for his efforts in dreambeaches. Lake Jons – “I Don’t Care”

Lake Jons is a Helsinki-based duo who walk a fine, fine line between producers extraordinaire and full-on band. “I Don’t Care” is a perfect example – gauzy synth flourishes and jittery percussion tracks lay underneath their tasteful vocal lines. They’ve found a way to inject an organic feel into the otherwise mechanical nature of electronic music. Let their airy brand of synth-driven indie pop envelop you. Check it out below and add it to your Spotify playlist.

Dominic Sen – “Natural History

We’re digging the dreamy pop sound from Brooklyn solo-act Dominic Sen. Check out the handheld-VHS aesthetic of her latest video for “Natural History.” Between the kitschy retro feels and vaguely romantic lyrics about gift shops and museums, we think this one will make a great addition to your chill-out playlist. Fans of Porches, Jay Som, or Braids will surely dig this one – get your fix via YouTube below.

Hikee Bikini – “Bubble”

Hikee Bikini is an Austrian act whose “Bubble” certainly rubbed us the right way. Combining a frantic marimba-esque keyboard with tight pop vibes, “Bubble” is an effervescent jam that combines lighthearted lyrics with straight-up pop sensibility. It is accompanied by a kitschy music video full of pastel pinks and greens, choreographed dancing, and striking imagery. Get down to their shoo-be-doo-laden Austrian pop via the YouTube embed below and if you dig it – add it to your Spotify playlist.
