Crooked Colours – “Hold On”

Aussie electro-dance trio, Crooked Colours, drops off the ethereal single, “Hold On,” off their highly anticipated sophomore album, Langata. This steamy track will get you ready for the dog days of summer with a hot and bouncy rhythm and effervescent vocals. Old Ways – “Bluff”

Bummed out? Force a smile with the single, “Bluff,” from Pennsylvania sad rockers, Old Ways. This is the first track off the three-piece’s recently released debut EP Fair Enough and will hook you with its lyrical and heartfelt opening plea. Supporting vicariously sullen vocals are poignant chords and a rocking drum beat. Misery loves company so sidle up next to this catchy tune below. Philip Brooks – “Spend Some Time Alone Inside My Head”

London-based bedroom indie-pop solo act Philip Brooks drops his latest single, “Spend Some Time Alone Inside My Head,” a laidback and somber track that’s perfect to drift away with. Although it features a dreamy, atmospheric beat composed and performed by the 21-year-old multi-instrumentalist, Brooks soft and hazy vocals float over it like a rain cloud as he details struggles with mental health. Colour Tongues – “Southbound”

Walk a mile in the shoes of Canadian prog indie rockers, Colour Tongues, in the new video for their electric single, “Southbound.” This intoxicating track will get you dancing like no one’s watching with hair-raising guitars, stamping drums and a warm sing-a-long chorus. Craig Finn – “Something to Hope For”

The Hold Steady frontman, Craig Finn, spreads his wings and soars with the fantastic new single, “Something to Hope For.” Off his upcoming solo outing, I Need a New War, Finn flexes his songwriting muscles like he’s Mr. Universe with an ensemble of spirited melodies and uplifting harmonies. The track lifts off to new heights with the acclaimed crooner’s bold and captivating vocals that will melt away the world around you. You definitely want to give this one a listen below. Trumpets of Consciousness – “Stephanie Saturday”

French psych-rock act, Trumpets of Consciousness, release the visuals for their delightful single, “Stephanie Saturday.” Hot off their just-released LP, Approximate, this vibrant track features a finger-snapping dance beat complete with quirky synths and keys. Singer Thibauld Labey’s weightless vocals bring everything together for a playful daydream that’s a joy to get lost in. Watch it below. Rosemary Fairweather – “Once in a While”

Snuggle up with the endorphin-releasing new single “Once in a While” from Canadian dream pop nightingale, Rosemary Fairweather. This track will envelop you like a warm, cozy blanket with Fairweather’s delicate, whispering vocals that are softer than an apparition’s. Pulsating drums and shooting star guitars build to an irresistible chorus that will leave you hypnotized. Check it out below. Whethan & Bearson – “Win You Over ft. SOAK”

Breakout Chicago producer Whethan collaborates with Norwegian producer Bearson and Irish singer-songwriter SOAK on the bubbly new triple threat dance track “Win You Over.” Prepare your feet for a sugary sweet nu-disco beat with effervescent vocals that will keep you going long after the party’s over. Ditch Days – “Even If You Know ft. Terry vs. Tori”

Portuguese dream pop act, Ditch Days, lulls you into a state of relaxation with the video for their breezy single, “Even If You Know.” Teaming up with vocalist Erica Pender (Terry vs. Tori), this whimsical and carefree track feels like a wind chime in the summer with ethereal vocals and a breezy melody. Sipper – “N.J.F.D”

Sipper have a new bummer pop track titled “N.J.F.D.” which has been repeat in the buffaBLOG office this week. In the video, Sipper gets into a fight with a partner at an amusement park, giving many of us some PTSD. With the change of the weather, “N.J.F.D.” is the anthem of the beginnings of a bounce-y summer. Check out the video below and keep a lookout for future material from Sipper over on Facebook. 

Ladysse – “Heartbreak Hollywood”

Ladysse’s “Heartbreak Hotel” is like an itch that finally gets scratched. The project is fronted by Stephanie Lauren, a current Detroit resident and former Californian. Since moving east, she been hitting the ground running, embedding herself in the local scene, even landing a spot in AP magazine’s “10 Detroit Artists You Need to Hear” article. Formerly of the band Golden Youth, Ladysse draws comparisons to Charlie XCX or Metric, however we think “Heartbreak Hotel” could easily be a secret track on Yeah Yeah Yeahs 2009 album It’s Blitz. Check out the single below and be on the lookout for new material that should be equally as promising.

flowerbed – “hyacinth”

Denton-based shoegaze act “Flowerbed” have a new single that caught our ear last month titled “hyacinth.” The track has a moody layer to it, accented by the lulls of singer Bailey Biggs. “Hyacinth” triggers comparisons to My Bloody Valentine, Lush, or Big Bite. This is the dreampop act’s first single and with that they set the bar pretty high for any followup. Onni Boi – “Tides”

Relatively underground newcomer Onni Boi has a new electro pop track that truly delivers an infectious melody. The Helsinki-based musician blurs pop, electro, indie, and house and wraps it all into an impressive package. “Tides”is Onni Boi’s return to the scene after an impressive debut in 2017 with OB EP.  The single is all about the apprehension of letting someone in on a deeper level, and wanting to protect yourself from being too vulnerable. Check out the single below and try not to dance, I dare you.

Hot Pocket – “Live Without (ft. Lautier)”

Funky UK act Hot Pocket teamed up with Lautier to deliver a dance floor must for your spring 2018 playlist. The video for the single gives you a fly-on-the-wall experience, being a largely unnoticed bystander in a busy apartment. If you are into Jamiroquai, then buckle up because Hot Pocket might be your newest obsession. Check out “Live Without” below and keep up with the band’s Spotify for future material.

Kyle Blvd – “HomeGrown”

New Jersey-based up-and-coming emcee Kyle Blvd released a dreamy rap single last month titled “Homegrown.” The single showcases Blvd’s tight laid back flow drizzled over a Nintendo 64 influenced instrumental. It’s incredibly hypnotizing and relaxing at the same time. Check out the video for “Homegrown” below and melt into the track.
