Coward Syndrome – “Flat Moon”

Paris duo Coward Syndrome have written a transcendent, gothy shoegaze tune here with “Flat Moon.” This song is impossibly warbly and perfectly moody in a warm, warped-vinyl way… But it still retains the bleak and cold attitude of something a bit more post-punk. KALI – “I Just Wanna”

Something about 16-year-old wunderkind KALI already sounds like the work of a veteran recording artist. Her latest single “I Just Wanna” combines retro synthpop sounds with 2021-flavored songwriting sentiment. The result is something danceable but sophisticated. Coupled with the Stranger Things-esque aesthetic of the accompanying music video – we think this one has wide reaching appeal. Glom – “Again”

Last time we checked in with NYC sextet Glom, we were waxing poetic about their starry-eyed, hook-laden single “Fungus.” They’re back with a new song, this time with the jammy, mid-tempo simmer of “Again.” This one never quite bubbles over the top – it has us grooving along without ever getting our blood boiling. Fly Felix – “Warm Blood”

Fly Felix is the songwriting project of producer/singer/songwriter Drew Tyler; we’ve been digging the synth-tinged indie rock of his latest offering, “Warm Blood.” Inspired by a writing retreat in Sedona, AZ (but eventually recorded in Los Angeles), Tyler and keyboardist and composer Eric McDermott joined forces to create the fuzzed-out creation you hear today. Air Devi – “mosquitos in the backyard”

Last time we checked in with Air Devi, we were digging the lighthearted chill-out vibes of “No Clearances.” The Philadelphia singer/songwriter is back again with another stunner, this time in the form of “mosquitos in the backyard.” Using chopped up samples as the backbone of this song (reminding us fondly of a shoegaze-y, late-00s era Minus the Bear), “mosquitos” injects a fascinating mathy vibe into its otherwise dream-pop nature. Coucheron – “Can’t Stop”

Coucheron is no stranger to buffaBLOG – last time we checked in with him (Sebastian Kornelius Coucheron-Gautier Teigen to be specific), we were jamming hard to the EDM-flavored pulse of “Barely Floating.” “Can’t Stop” is our next recommendation… It’s a bedroom-disco banger with unbridled energy and colorful, upbeat vocals. Coucheron (who is only in his early 20s) has already had a few Grammy nods, chart placements, and yes, even a coveted nod from T. Swift herself.
