Tonight: Twin Speak

Groovy with a fresh coat of grime thrown on top comes close to approximating Utica act, Twin Speak, who will be stopping by the Mohawk Place tonight. Twin Speak’s singular blend of psych rock, stoner, and post-rock makes an almost transcendental experience. Their latest record, SOULSS puts you through a kaleidoscope of twists, turns, riffs, and beats. Think Explosions in the Sky with exceptionally more teeth, that are sharper and dripping with something’s blood. Joining them are psych-rock garage rockers, Bold Folly and lyrically driven indie group, Leyda. This won’t be a show you will want to miss. Doors are at 8pm, music at 9pm. $6 for the door.

Tonight: The Leones

Tonight Buffalo’s Leones celebrate the release of their Halloween album Ghost In The City at the Mohawk with Twin Speak, Orations, and Award Show. Bold and ambitious, Ghost In The City features excellent atmosphere, vocals reminiscent of Richard Ashcroft, and some serious class. Utica psychedelic doom rockers Twin Speak will opening the show with Buffalo goth romantics Orations, Award Show, a lo-fi acoustic bedroom folk project from Jesse Kaufman and Nate Ward, and 80’s horror movies on VHS in between sets. The bands request donations of Halloween masks and child friendly costumes to benefit underprivileged children through the NPO Gateway Longview, which serves 3600 children throughout Western New York. Tonight: Project Grant Fundraiser

Rock on for a good cause tonight at Buffalo Iron Works as a cast of locals and non take the stage in support of the Project Grant Fundraiser. The West Side launched program is aimed to work with artists and communities who may be lacking in the proper resources for a given artistic medium and project. On hand for musical support this evening are Utica desert rockers Twin Speak (in town for an Infringement date), retro punk rockers Soul Butchers, lyrically sound slackers Difficult Night, audio/visual master Projex, and many more.
