Humble Braggers – New Life

Humble Braggers have polished up some uncut gems. A heavy-hitter in Buffalo’s synthpop space, the band has just dropped their third full-length album, New Life, which–as the band describes on Instagram–isn’t just a collection of new tracks. Instead, their latest effort is a curated selection of songs spanning their eleven-year history, all of which originate from demos first recorded between 2014 and 2022. Northern Nomads – “Phoenix”

“Phoenix,” the latest single from Seattle synthpop outfit Northern Nomads is neon drenched, epic, and it needs to get beamed into your ears right away. For his latest jam Northern Nomads mastermind Mario Sibaja trades the Nile Rodgers guitar work that made last year’s revelatory  Love Is All We Have EP obscenely irresistible for a pulsating riff that exudes sexy, apocalyptic power… with yet another exquisitely crafted and delivered chorus that makes you want to dance with your shoulders like you were in an 80’s music video. Check it out.

Charles Bordeaux Releases Free Of.. EP

Buffalo producer/songwriter Charles Bordeaux, formerly known as REverb Rock, recently released a soulful four track EP titled Free Of.., which includes instrumental melodic synth jams as well as downtempo experimental pop with frenetic percussion and emotive vocals. The artist’s abstract style is notably compelling on tracks like “Temple” and “Youth”, where lush arrangements accompany the singer’s introspective lyrics along with immersive vocal samples. The casual instrumental jam “Wax & Wane” centers around an infectious synth progression, paired with static drums and a strong bass groove to make for a jazzy, contemplative feel.
