We’ve been keeping an eye on Supermilk ever since they dropped the banger “Pelican Pete” way back in 2021. Just in time for Pride Month, the four piece led by Jake Popyura put out “Muscle Top,” an ode to secretly exploring sexuality during a time when it’s forbidden. June might actually be the time when it is most acceptable to broaden your horizons, but regardless, the band manages to tackle a not-so-sexy topic with their typical indie punk fervor. Supermilk (aka Jake Popyura) caught our ears with the irresistible guitar-pop of his newest single, “Pelican Pete.” Reminiscent of Weezer’s early output or guitar-pop bands like Superchunk or Ozma, “Pete” combines crunchy guitars with a strong vocal hook and a charming bedroom-esque mix.
