SOZI – DREAM

SOZI is LA-born and raised, and her latest EP, DREAM, is a glittering reflection of that upbringing. Written and produced by SOZI, this end-of-summer blitz is a celebration of all things glitz and glamor. Here’s a little more about DREAM from SOZI herself.   “The ‘DREAM’ EP is all about the illusions we chase, the fantasies we fall into, and the moments of clarity that wake us up. It’s the sound of summer seen through a hazy lens: warm, glittery, emotional, and a little surreal.”   SOZI smartly opens the album with “Superstar” – an archetypal SOZI jam that combines retro disco throwbacks (think Bee-Gees-type staccato strings that sigh and burst) with a modern-day pop sensibility. SOZI’s voice is powerful, but not overwhelming, acting as a lilting presence that floats perfectly overtop the electropop instrumentals… And while the phrase will be forever associated with Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher,[...]

SOZI – Bloom

As we enter a much-needed Buffalo summer, it’s time to refresh our playlists with new and exciting music that reverberates that infectious energy – we’d like to direct your attention to the latest from SOZI on her new, four-song EP, BLOOM. Full of airy and infectious alt pop, BLOOM “is all about stepping into a new season of growth and letting go of what’s been holding you back.” If you’ve been stuck indoors for the last six months like we have, this is the perfect way to break out of your shell and embrace the incoming springtime.   “Seconds” kicks off the album with a lighthearted-but-energetic opening. Quick percussion lays the backbone for SOZI’s lilting presence – coming fully into fruition in the super catchy chorus – “How do the seconds turn to minutes? I just can’t keep up.” SOZI continues the profound lyrical content with lines like “these are your best years,[...]

SOZI – “The Brink”

“The Brink” is a place I’m sure many people have been brought to through various circumstances, but in this case, we’re talking about SOZI’s latest single. Drum machines and synth underpin an ethereal romp that feels like partway between a dream and waking; just as time is starting to slow down to a crawl. Speaking to the track, SOZI had this to say:   “This one’s all about that electrifying moment between breaking and breakthrough: the tension, the uncertainty, the push to keep going when everything feels like it’s about to collapse.”   Fans of Florence and the Machine and Clairo would find a lot to enjoy here, as well as aficionados of LORDE/Randy Marsh.   You can hear “The Brink” below from YouTube. You can check out her personal site with a link to lots of stuff (more vids, socials, etc.). Including, apparently, SOZI tokens.
