Jason Matu – “All The Pieces Fit”

Super clever wordplay on this indie rocker from Jason Matu. “All the Pieces Fit” brings to mind Flaming Lips, Manchester Orchestra, and other indie rock greats on this cool, bombastic jam. We’re particularly drawn to Matu’s excessive use of alliteration in each of the verses. It brings a satisfying quirkiness to the overall tone of the song. Not to mention the sweet synth layers and Matu’s yearning vocals. Check it out below or on Spotify. icantwaitforsummer · Jason Matu – “All The Pieces Fit”

Edwin Organ – “Self Alarm”

Sharing this super quirky electropop jam here from Edwin Organ. “Self Alarm” is a jerky, nu-disco tinged jam that combines the fun of 1980s synth pop with a bit of 2020 flavor and flair. Organ said it best himself – about “Self Alarm,” he says: “We’ve all been there. The relationship you know is no good but you keep going back to them only to be chewed up & spat out. It never works out, listen to Self Alarm, it’s looking out for you.” We agree with Edwin – listen to “Self Alarm.” Soundcloud link below, Spotify link here. Edwin Organ · Self Alarm

Natalie Schlabs – “Don’t Look Too Close”

Digging this jam from Nashville-based songwriter Natalie Schlabs. “Don’t Look Too Close” is a new direction for Natalie – she’s veered away from her country roots into something more akin to indie rock. “Close” is full of cool delayed guitar stabs, driving drums and bass, and of course Schlabs beautiful vocals… Not to mention the cool, start-stop music video treatment that she’s given this one. This one goes down smooth – watch the vid below and keep an eye out for her next LP, also titled Don’t Look Too Close, due out October 16.

Josh Fudge – “When She’s Gone”

Vibing hard to this cool jam from 18-year-old Oklahoma City-based Josh Fudge. “When She’s Gone” is full of big nu-disco basslines, astral synth splashes, and Fudge’s super-smooth vocal delivery. This one is very funky but still feels low-key in a relaxing way a la Tame Impala or Mac Demarco. Check it out below and if you’re feeling it, add it to your Spotify playlist too. Dylan Pacheco – “Negative Space”

Austin, TX-based songwriter Dylan Pacheco has fully embraced his self-proclaimed weirdo-pop roots on a charming new single called “Negative Space.” Full of nervous kid energy, “Negative Space” combines squiggly synths, jittery guitar work, and half-yelped vocals that are dripping with manic sincerity. “Space” is a bedroom song that feels both joyful and anxious all at once; we think fans of the Front Bottoms, Say Hi, or Motion City Soundtrack will like this one a lot. Check it out below – it’s also on Spotify. Dylan Pacheco · Negative Space (Manic Panic)

1996 – “Around You”

Cool, swimmy one from 1996 – “Around You” is a part of a dreampop songwriting project from Mike Lee (also of Letting Up Despite Great Faults & Family Mart) where each of his singles features a new singer from a different city. We’re particularly drawn to “Around” – frantic canned drums, swirly guitar vibes, and smartly-edited bedroom-pop vocals really make this one pop. Qwiet Type – “Ferris Wheel”

We’ve been jamming out hard to this latest EDM-flavored electropop hit from Qwiet Type. “Ferris Wheel” shows off Qwiet Type’s penchant for songwriting and production, blending EDM sentiment with good-old-fashioned pop hooks. Jordana – “Divine”

Yo – Jordana is here with some truly infectious indie pop vibes. “Divine” comes out swinging by namechecking Phoenix for some immediate indie cred… But beyond that, “Divine” is a well-crafted pop jam with an impressively nimble bassline and a unique percussion track. The cherry-on-top is Jordana’s lilting delivery, which ebbs and flows perfectly with the quiet/loud intensity of the verses and choruses. We think you’re gonna like this one – check it out below. Dead Emerson – “Sucker Punch”

Big indie pop vibes from Dead Emerson here on “Sucker Punch.” Emerson is truly a one-man-show – writing and producing everything you hear here, often in the solitude of his LA bedroom studio. Solo-act or not, it seems to be working… “Sucker Punch” is irresistible; it’s full of frantic drums, jittery guitar energy, and big synth blasts, all of which are perfect for modern indie radio play and repeat listens. If you’re feeling it like we are, check it out on Spotify.  Dead Emerson · Sucker Punch

JW Francis – “Good Time”

BuffaBLOG mainstay JW Francis is at it again, this time with his latest jam, “Good Time.” The Oklahoma-born, Paris-raised, NYC-based singer/songwriter specializes in delightfully warbly bedroom pop with a warped-vinyl aesthetic. “Good Time” is another gem in his repertoire, full of AM-radio guitar twinkles, gauzy synths, and a sun-soaked mentality disguising the bit of melancholy that colors his lyrics.
