Airplane Man – “New Supplier”

“New Supplier” by Airplane Man has been bumping in the buffaBLOG offices lately, and it’s time that we share it with y’all. The violet-hued music video syncs up perfectly with the song’s upbeat electronica vibes, pairing retro images with neon aesthetic and modern-day synth pop. About this song, Airplane Man explains: “[it] is a story of a man who, in an attempt to remedy his heartbreak, does things outside the realm of his normal behavior; it’s the dark impulse decisions we make when overcome by emotion.” So be sure to give in to your impulses and blast this one all day. You can download “New Supplier” for free here.

Pat Dam Smyth – “Blue Lights”

Irish rocker and modern prophet Pat Dam Smyth looked to the past for inspiration on his latest song, “Blue Lights.” About the song, Smyth explains in detail: “It is a memory piece that recalls Pat and his teenage band’s first headline show back in Northern Ireland, when a bomb scare saw the venue evacuated. Instruments bought especially for the occasion were abandoned as the band tore from the scene in a tiny Ford Fiesta, watching the blue lights fly past in the other direction as their teenage getaway driver got high.” Smyth’s dead-on description truly paints a vivid picture…. Fans of Father John Misty, The National, or The War On Drugs will find solace in Pat Dam Smyth’s warm baritone and keyboard-laced indie rock.

Shy Luv – “Lungs”

Shy Luv ain’t no strangers to buffaBLOG – last time we checked in with them, we were raving about their psych-pop banger “Like A River.” They’re continuing their string of excellent psychy/synthy releases with “Lungs.” This is what Shy Luv had to say about “Lungs:” “Lungs came from us wanting to create something nostalgic for ourselves, something that people at our gigs could sing back to us, or take that same feeling away with them. It’s written around saying too much in a relationship and wanting to take back what you’d said, telling someone you love them and then almost regretting it.” Check out “Lungs” on iTunes.

Dirty Nice – “It’s Happening”

Looking for an impossibly bright and sparkly electronica ditty? We think you should give Dirty Nice a shot – their new song “It’s Happening” is a surreal take on electronica music. Their recent singles have amassed over a million plays on Spotify… Let’s just say “It’s Happening” is on track to do the same. With it’s eccentric disco bass and delightfully lightly auto-tuned vocals, this one would make a fantastic addition to your playlist. Dirty Nice has a pretty surreal Instagram account too, check it out.

Serena Foster – “Show Me The Way”

Serena Foster is excited to share her new sound, and after checking out her latest music video, we can see why. “Show Me The Way” is a stuttering pop gem, taking cues from other pop masterminds like Charli XCX and Icona Pop. About the song, Serena says, “This is a inspirational song about changing your ways when you are feeling unhappy or stuck doing something you don’t love.” I hope this song and music video inspires you to follow your dreams and go after what you love!

PLEASER – “Wave”

Do you dig kung-fu, indie rock, or the 1990s? If you answererd yes to any of the aforementioned questions, you gotta check out the new video from PLEASER. “Wave” is a mid-tempo tribute to 90s-alt rock heroes like Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., and Hum, combining slacker-dude vocals with delightfully-simple guitar droning. PLEASER is a part of the Figbox collective, a group of musicians who contribute to several different projects. Check them all out here.

Des- “Dying Breed”

Des, aka the solo outlet for multi-instrumentalist Mike Desmond, recently caught our attention with the bright electro-indie pop of their/his latest single, “Dying Breed.” Are you a fan of Grouplove, Capital Cities, or The 1975? Look no further – Des employs a rolling electro-bassline and neurotic electronic drums with his pleasant take on indie-rocker vocals… Check it out via the widget below. Wild & Free – “Trippin on You”

Prepare your body… LA duo Wild & Free are here to get you moving and grooving with their perfectly-composed indie dance pop. Our personal favorite is “Trippin on You,” a subtle but deeply funky jam that mixes hush-hush vocals, funk bass, and tasteful synth work. Fans of Daft Punk or Classixx will dig this one a bunch. “Trippin on You” is all over the internet – select your preferred method of consumption via this link.

Brian Bradley – “Halcyon 2050”

Brian Bradley is hot off of a string of midwest shows and is promoting his latest release pretty hard. “Halcyon 2050” bumped-and-grinded its way into our inbox and we’ve been hooked ever since… It’s clear the EP draws from classical, pop, and electronica influences – airy vocals lay over top powerful but smooth synth work. Fans of Passion Pit, Joywave, or the casual dubstep listener will definitely dig this one. “Halcyon 2050” would make a fantastic addition to your Spotify playlist.

Mt. Joy – “Silver Lining”

Mt. Joy reached out to us with the powerful sentiment of their alt-folk anthem, “Silver Lining.” The song is about coping with the feelings of loss after losing friends to addiction. The heavy subject matter is touching and eloquently-delivered… And its hard to deny the powerful chorus of “But if it’s the drugs, the women, the wine, the weed.” Recommended for fans of Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe, or Noah and the Whale. Drop Mt. Joy a like on Instagram while you’re at it.

Twin Ritual – “Hand Through The Mist”

San Diego act Twin Ritual are an indie rock band specializing in frantic danceable tunes with a notable early-80s tinge – almost as if Heart and The Bravery had a child (figuratively speaking, of course). “Hand Through The Mist” is our personal recommendation – the spastic guitar playing is a true highlight, bolstered by fantastic vocals, dreamy vocals, and a rock-solid dance beat. You dig Twin Ritual? Bandcamp it up.

Pet Envy – “For Keeps”

Get your Monday started off right with a funky pop-rock jam from Nashville act Pet Envy. “For Keeps” is truly the goodest-of-times, full of disco-influenced bass lines, flashy synth lines, choppy funk guitar, and a fun vocal melody. We’re especially digging their unique combination of r&b, pop, funk, and indie-pop sentiment. Peep their Bandcamp if you’re feeling the good vibes.

Madeleine McQueen – “Wildfire”

Rochester-born singer/songwriter Madeleine McQueen specializes in upbeat pop rock, notably evident in her latest single “Wildfire.” About the song, Madeline says, “I wrote “Wildfire” when I was drunk one night and being a bitch. It’s pretty upbeat and catchy with some deeper and darker lyrics to contrast that.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves – recommended to fans of Florence & The Machine, Feist, or Ingrid Michaelson. If you like what you hear, add “Wildfire” to your Spotify playlist.

Tesse – “I’ll Tell You In The Morning”

Tesse is the collaborative project of Sydney-based songwriter Tom Stephens… His songs are brooding alt-folk compositions, centered around acoustic guitar riffs and peppered with flavors of baritone guitar and piano. “I’ll Tell You In The Morning” is the first offering from his yet-to-be-released debut; it explores the complexities and monotony of an unstable relationship. Stay up to date with Tesse’s happenings via their Instagram.
