HUSBANDS – “Ancient One”

Let’s just put it out there, we like HUSBANDS. We’ve previously featured their singles, “Culebra,” “Mexico,” and “Neuromancer,” and today we’re overjoyed to feature their latest single, “Ancient One.” The multi-city duo (OKC x Seattle, to be specific) get a bit more experimental on “Ancient,” introducing a unique percussive presence to their otherwise sunny indie pop. In true HUSBANDS style, the song closes out with a fun sing-a-long melody, so be sure to stick around until then. You can find “Ancient One” on Bandcamp (along with the rest of the band’s excellent discography) – check it out here. HUSBANDS · Ancient One

Husbands – “Culebra”

Last time we checked in with shimmery indie poppers Husbands, we were talking up the song “Mexico.” This time around, we’re digging “Culebra” which follows their tried-and-true format of swirly guitar pop topped with effervescent vocal melodies. The duo (impressively) splits their time between Seattle and Oklahoma City – their clear charisma would suggest otherwise. Check it out below.

Husbands – “Mexico”

Husbands is a shimmery indie-pop duo whose “Mexico” caught our ears. Inspired by a dream house sitting opportunity in Costa Rica, “Mexico” approaches themes of disillusionment after returning to the 9 to 5 grind, and finds the duo yearning to drop their responsibilities and move to Mexico. They do this, of course, atop catchy and swirly indie-pop. Check it out via the widget below and add it to your Spotify playlist. Mexico by Husbands

Husbands – “Neuromancer”

Husbands used to be a long distance affair, but the duo recently took their relationship to the next level; Wil moved from his home in Washington, DC to join his bandmate Danny in OKC. Their first completed song post-reunion is the wonderfully oddball “Neuromancer,” which mixes 80s synth vibes with a modern bedroom pop mentality. The result is a beachy, synthy song that sounds like a Beach Boys and DEVO mashup written in 2016. Go to Bandcamp and snag “Neuromancer” for a “pay what you want” rate.
