Cina Polada – “July 13th”

Cina Polada is a shimmering indie-pop combo from Helsinki whose “July 13th” is one of our newest, favorite obsessions. We’re particularly drawn to the frantic drumming on this tune, which reminds us of The Walkmen’s iconic drum work in 2004’s “The Rat.” Beyond the drumming, beautiful guitar work, breathy vocals, and icy synth work peppers the track. Recommended to fans of TOPS, Ra Ra Riot, or Tame Impala. Check it out on iTunes too.

Cina Polada – “Gloom”

Finnish indie pop combo Cina Polada dropped “Gloom,” the first single off their self-titled EP due out on September 29. The band is composed of Hilla and Tatu Miettinen, with Tatu’s brother Teemu and close friends Tony Salo and Nita Mattila. Growing in popularity with their place on Ja Ja Ja’s top Nordic Artists to Watch for 2016, the band hopes to continue their success in their EP. “Gloom” carries a vibe like its title. A mellow guitar riff leads to somber vocals. Hilla sings, “I’m just a waste of time, it’s just the way I feel,” further hammering away at the sad motif of the single.
