Child Seat – “The Punchline”

Los Angeles based indie pop duo Child Seat, consisting of Madeleine Matthews and Josiah Mazzaschi, recently debuted their new single “The Punchline.” Don’t let Matthews’ clownish appearance lull you into a false sense of humor, behind the synths and wispy vocals is a reflective song about comparing where you are versus where you thought you would be in life. The twee music video, evoking some Wes Anderson vibes, was my preferred method of listening as it takes away some of the bitter draught of the subject matter that really connected with me on a personal level (seriously, clowns and sepia tones make everything better). Child Seat – “Burning”

It’s not often that a live session catches our ears for a feature, but the attention to detail on Child Seat‘s latest take on “Burning” has us questioning our sanity. Between the gently bubbling backing track; the winding guitar parts; and the ever-perfect vocals, “Burning” sounds like it could be the studio rendition of the song. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the band looks ultra cool while performing. You can also find “Burning” on Spotify.

Child Seat – “Fever Dream”

The LA duo Child Seat has finally strapped in with their debut single “Fever Dream.” Using the pandemic as their musical time capsule, the west coast duo have a full album’s worth of material ready to be released to the public, appropriately starting with “Fever Dream.” Thick synths and drum pads add to the retro scheme they’ve so carefully put together. The music video shows Child Seats outlandish style in a very whimsically pleasing manner. Cannon ball into their world with the retro energy of “Fever Dream.” Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music
