CASTLEBEAT – “Heart Still Beats”

This isn’t the first time we’ve written about the fantastic slacker-pop of CASTLEBEAT, and we’re pretty sure it won’t be the last. He’s back for more, this time with “Heart Still Beats.” 23-year-old wunderkind Josh Hwang is the brains behind CASTLEBEAT, writing and recording everything himself on “mediocre equipment” (his words) with a strong DIY ethos. Bum technology or not, we think this one is bomb. Have a listen below. You can snag “Heart Still Beats” for free via Bandcamp.

Castlebeat – “Face On The Wall”

“Face On The Wall” is shoegazy bedroom-pop at its finest. Josh Hwang is the 22-year-old mastermind of Castlebeat, who won us over with his charmingly compositions. Between the aged VHS aesthetic of his cover art to the lo-fi, quasi-spooky undertones of his music, Castlebeat’s vibes hooked us in right away. Fans of DIIV, The Drums, or Beach Fossils – this one’s for you. Check out Castlebeat’s Bandcamp page here.
