Spencer Ludwig – “Right Into U”

The odds are great that you’ve probably already heard Spencer Ludwig‘s soaring trumpet – his work can be heard all over Capital Cities’ In a Tidal Wave of Mystery, most notably in their mega-smash “Safe and Sound.” These days, Ludwig is hot off the release of his first solo single, “Right Into U.” His particular brand of pop celebration music is perfect for fans of Bruno Mars, Pharrell, or epic 1970s disco-pop. You can buy “Right Into U” from a variety of sources – check them all out here. Maria Kelly – “Black & Blue”

Irish singer/songwriter Maria Kelly wowed us with the acoustic simplicity of her new track “Black & Blue.” Her vulnerable brand of folk is endearing, as demonstrated by Kelly’s pin-drop vocals and charming lyricism. Fans of She & Him, Regina Spektor, and Ingrid Michaelson would feel right at home with Maria Kelly. “Black & Blue” is out now via Veta Records. Stream it on Spotify. Gypsy & The Cat – “Tragedies Of A Love Song”

Melbourne, Australia dreamrock duo Gypsy & The Cat have an infectious new single that we can’t stop pumping on the office’s Bose Soundlink Mini™. The shoegazey track, “Tragedies Of A Love Song” is more in realm of an upbeat DIIV, The Drums, or Wild Nothing than the band’s grandiose-sounding indie pop ballads.  “Tragedies Of A Love Song” is on the duo’s new album Virtual Islands on . Check out the single below. J.Lately – “Quality Time”

There’s nothing better like a feel good track in the summer, and that’s exactly what J.Lately comes through with on his single “Quality Time.” The weather of Lately’s home in Northern California emits from the sound waves of the track. It’s an ode to the simple things in life.”When it sucks I smoke weed and write tracks, and when it’s good I smoke weed and write tracks,” he raps. Good weed, dope beats, and quality time with the people he likes most. Sometimes that’s his girl, other times it’s his friends that “can rap better than yours.” The sunny beat gives off nice backyard vibes, appropriate with the work of J.Lately’s project The Good Panda EP. “If this is good than tell me what you call great?”

TruthCity – “Changes”

Virginia transplant TruthCity has a story to tell. In his single “Changes” the rapper lays out the path he continues to trek to accomplish what he wants to in the industry. The struggles of a musician aren’t necessarily mysterious, but TruthCity makes you feel his words. It kicks off right away when he refers to his rhymes as “couch raps,” an acknowledgement of all the places he’s floated since his arrival in NYC. He recounts moments of self-doubt and frustration with gripping words and phenomenal flow. The uneasiness still follows TruthCity, but as the cliche goes, it’s about the journey, not the destination. “If I make it out, I’ll tell my story, of how tragedy can become glory.” Watch and listen below.

Eddy – “Go On”

“Tell me do you feel this? Tell me do you feel me?” Rapper Eddy kicks off his single “Go On” by posing these all-important questions, but he already has a conclusion in his mind. “Go On” is a break-up track, but not necessarily a sad story. Eddy knows he has his faults, and so does his girl. He’s also ready to move on with his music; it’s just time to move with everything. The muted beat is at times reminiscent of DJ Khaled’s monster single “I’m On One.” Displaying some nice technical ability on his internal rhymes, Eddy is a talented dude with both his words and how he demonstrates his story. Hear it in full below.

Sea Span – “Refugees”

Sea Span combines wispy acoustic guitars, airy falsetto delivery, and electronic drums to create their own sparkly and ambient version of baroque pop. “Refugee” sounds like Dallas Green and the Postal Service collaborated, mixing delicate and passionate vocals with pop electronica vibes. Fans of City and Colour, Bon Iver, or Stars would dig Sea Span. “Refugee” is free if you’re willing to follow this link. fiancé – “h.a.g.s.”

Delaware quintet fiancé released a debut, self-titled record this past February… It was right around then that they started to feel a bit burnt out (real talk: being in a band is hard work). The dudes needed a refresher and decided to release their songs as they wrote them instead. “h.a.g.s.” is their first, post-self-titled. It’s a warbling, 80s-tinged indietronica jam a la Big Eater, Washed Out, or The Cure. Check out fiancé’s Bandcamp page if you’re into it. Hideout – “Changing Us All”

Hideout is the moniker of Manhattan-based glam-pop artist Gabriel Rodriguez (he also happens to be a longtime band member of Cults). “Changing Us All” is the latest cosmic jam off of his debut album, Rookie. His spacey indie rock would appeal to fans of Wavves, The Walkmen, or Real Estate. Rookie is out now on Thrill Me Records. Check it out here. Wake The Wild – “Pulse”

Wake The Wild is a quartet from LA poised to take over the world. Their sound is a unique blend of dance music, melodic and airy vocals, and organic live instrumentation. Their latest jam, “Pulse,” captures a unique feeling – “two people with chemistry meeting for the first time.” Fans of M83 or Cut Copy would be into WTW’s sensual funktronica. Lily Virginia – “TV Screens & Videos”

Brooklyn-based alt-pop artist Lily Virginia recently released a live sesh of her new jam “TV Screens & Videos.” Her latest effort, Play Me Twice, is a multimedia effort being released one video at a time. We dug “TV Screens” for it’s bouncy vibes, impossibly crisp instrumentals, and Virginia’s impressively reserved delivery. Fans of Local Natives, Hop Along, or Waxahatchee would dig Virginia. Lily Virginia’s A/V album can be found via YouTube. Check out her channel here.

Amy Guess – “10 Times Out Of 10”

Pop songstress Amy Guess recently hit us up with her new video for “10 Times Out Of 10.” About the track, Guess says, “’10 Times Out Of 10′ is a glimpse into my love story – being with someone a long time and experiencing all the highs and the lows and happiest and hardest moments, but throughout everything, you know you’d never want it to be anyone else.” We think she hit the nail on the head. “10” is a simmering pop jam with a video that’s both futuristic and reminiscent of the 80s. Amy is offering “10 Times Out Of 10” via iTunes.
