Leitstrahl x Nicole Jaey – “Chevrolée”

There’s just something about this Austrian synthwave collab between Leitstrahl and Nicole Jaey. Their creation, “Chevrolée,” is a certified dancefloor banger that ticks all of our boxes – danceable beat? Check. Nostalgic feel with modern production? Check. Big vocal melodies and a catchy chorus? Check and check. The 80s-esque dance production from Litstrahl is just a perfect vehicle (pun intended) for Jaey’s vocal presence… We’re here for it. There’s no way this one won’t get you moving. Hold on tight while you check it out via YouTube below or Spotify for streaming.

Veps – “Ecstasy”

Here’s an excellent song all the way from Oslo, Norway – Veps caught our ears/eyes with their latest offering, “Ecstasy.” Between bites of lollipops; mangling cakes with their hands; and lots of air-guitar/karaoke madness, this quartet hit us hard with their excellent brand of emotional indie rock. Forlorn piano and guitar lines mix with interesting lyrics, all delivered with a number of irresistible hooks. Fans of HAIM, Warpaint, and Beach Bunny will find lots to love here – check out the fun, DIY-flavored video below. Looking for ways to enjoy Veps’ music? BOO SEEKA x Golding – “Don’t Waste Your Love”

Here’s some ultra-smooth electropop from Australian acts BOO SEEKA and Golding. “Don’t Waste Your Love” has a throbbing bass presence, super-polished production, and ear worm falsetto whispers – this was absolutely tailor-made for the dancefloor (yes, even if the dancefloor is just your living room). The song makes you want to move, but isn’t without it’s depth – it also touches on the struggles of mental health without ever losing its pop sparkle. We think this one is a shoo-in for your playlists – check it out below before adding it to your Spotify playlists. BOO SEEKA · Boo Seeka x Golding – Don’t Waste Your Love

Dome Dwellers – “Way It Goes”

Denton, TX quartet Dome Dwellers are about to blow your mind with their latest offering… “Way It Goes” starts mesmerizing you immediately – a seemingly impossible guitar creation comes out of nowhere. As if that wasn’t enough, they eventually move into faerie dust synth splashes and mind-numbing math rock tapping. It’s ultra creative and the perfect amount spastic; we can’t say we’ve ever heard anything quite like it. Fans of Maps & Atlases, Minus the Bear, and early Portugal. the Man are gonna eat this one up. Check it out below – Dome Dwellers are also on Spotify.

Calyx – “Noseeums”

Pittsburgh-based trio Calyx have to be experienced to truly understand… Part post-punk, part raw emo, part math rock, we couldn’t help but be hypnotized by their latest offering “Noseeums.” Rolling drumbeats, twisting guitars, blistering bass riffing, and heartfelt vocals propel this enigma forth – not to mention the chainsaw-art music video that comes along with it. Most importantly – “Noseeums” feels both explosive and sincerely hurt… And we absolutely love that from-the-heart feel. Check out the video for “Noseeums” below – they’ve got a Linktree for other ways to listen/support too.

Kristian Grostad – “Summer is Over”

Last time we checked in with Norwegian indie rocker Kristian Grostad, we were feeling the upbeat vibes of his single, “Feels Lighter.” He’s back again with the same brand of irresistible indie rock, this time with a song called “Summer is Over.” Springy leads, sunshine melodies, and drums that sound like they’re in the same room as you… Plus a super unique chorus that sets it all off. What more could you ask for? Check out “Summer” on Soundcloud – you can catch Grostad’s entire discog on Spotify too. Kristian Grostad · Summer is Over

Bosum – “Cherry”

Loving this little indie-pop gem all the way from Germany. “Cherry” by Bosom (aka singer/songwriter Tom Verbeeck) is carefully crafted with all the best aspects of dreampop; electronica; and indie. It’s full of whirring synths, surprisingly nimble drumbeats, swirly guitars, and Tom’s ultra-soothing vocals. Fans of Cocteau Twins, The War On Drugs, and Boards of Canada will find much to love here. Check out “Cherry” via YouTube below – you can also find it on Spotify.

We Were Promised Jetpacks – “If It Happens”

Scottish legends We Were Promised Jetpacks have been crafting iconic indie rock since 2009. They’re still cranking out excellent music, case in point, the epic flavor of “If It Happens.” Exploring a more introspective sound, WWPJ have stepped away from jaunty, guitar ragers and into a reverb-soaked atmosphere… But that’s not to say they’ve lost any energy! “Happens” is washy and beautiful, eventually building into an explosive ending. Check out the lightly-animated music video for “If It Happens” below. WWPJ also has an extensive discography worth checking out on Spotify too.

sock jock – “than”

We think you’ll like the ultra-sincere vibes of Chicago-based sock jock. SJ is the moniker of singer/songwriter Taylor Marie, who has been crafting songs since she was just 13. Now, at the age of 20, her songwriting has evolved into something very contemporary, reminiscent of Snail Mail or Soccer Mommy. You’ll find “than” is jangly and urgent, with warm and fuzzy bedroom-pop production. “than” is out now via Totally Real Records. Check it out below or swing by her Spotify to check out sock jock’s entire discog. sock jock · than

Maddie Jay – “CR78”

Here’s a simple and honest love song from indie-pop artist Maddie Jay. “CR78” is driven mostly by it’s chillwave-ish Casio-keyboard backbone, but the best part of this song is the little flourishes that exist throughout. Maddie has peppered “CR78” with unique percussion choices, warbly synth leads, and of course her ultra-pleasant vocal delivery. Check out the “lo-fi beats for studying” inspired music video below,

moshimoshi – “Tides”

“HELSINKI EMO FOREVER” – a fantastic motto from Finnish act moshimoshi whose “Tides” is immediately memorable for it’s blistering riffage. Part math rock, part screamo, part twinkly emo, “Tides” is an absolute ball of energy. Passionately-screamed vocals lay overtop frantic drums and plucky guitar – perfect for fans of Cap’n Jazz, Algernon Cadwallader, or Snowing. Check out the vintage-looking video below or swing by their Spotify for a full discography.

MAYA LUCIA – “ur ruining it !”

Boston-based indie pop-rocker MAYA LUCIA shuffled their way into our hearts with their latest offering, “ur ruining it !” Propelled by a snare roll, spindly surf rock-ish riffage, and a lovely bedroom-pop mix, “ruining” fits right in with the warbly 2021 climate while still feeling fresh and unique on its own. Fans of Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail, and Hop along are gonna love the energy on this one – check it out below via Bandcamp or head over to Spotify to stream there. ur ruining it ! by MAYA LUCIA

C. James x Misty Boyce – “Inside Out”

We’re loving this lighthearted indie pop collab between C. James and Misty Boyce. “Inside Out” simmers with just the right amount of shimmery energy – built around hushed acoustic guitar strums, vintage synth bleats, and Boyce/James’ omni-pleasant vocal deliveries. There’s a hint of folk here with just enough feel-good energy to feel uplifting without too much sunshine. We think you’ll like it too – check it out below via YouTube or swing by Spotify to stream it there.

Dady – “Dark Mode”

Here’s a super smooth indie pop jam from girl/boy duo Dady. The New York-based duo certainly know how to write a hook – whether you’re looking in the plucky guitars or the dreamy vocals, you’re sure to find more than a few. “Dark Mode” was an experiment in less-is-more for the duo and it seems to have paid off. This is a dead ringer for fans of Soccer Mommy, Clairo, or Girlpool. Check it out below – we can’t get enough. Dady · Dark Mode

The Tell – “Clap Clap”

Super unique indie rocker here from LA-based duo The Tell – the group is relatively mysterious (we couldn’t find much info on them), but their latest song “Clap Clap” speaks for itself. We’re particularly drawn to their unique way of spinning lyrics into intricate verses (think The Hold Steady meets The National) – the spiraling guitar work and unique chord progressions certainly don’t hurt either. “Clap Clap” is out now via Reclaim Records. You can check out “Clap Clap” for yourself below – if you like it, consider supporting it via Bandcamp. The Tell · Clap Clap
