Maria Kelly – “Black & Blue”

Irish singer/songwriter Maria Kelly wowed us with the acoustic simplicity of her new track “Black & Blue.” Her vulnerable brand of folk is endearing, as demonstrated by Kelly’s pin-drop vocals and charming lyricism. Fans of She & Him, Regina Spektor, and Ingrid Michaelson would feel right at home with Maria Kelly. “Black & Blue” is out now via Veta Records. Stream it on Spotify. Haley Bonar – “Stupid Face”

Preach, Haley! If it’s not evident already, Haley Bonar isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. Her new jam, “Stupid Face,” finds the 33-year-old pairing a constant, rolling drumbeat with her haunting and poignant vocals. This particular single is the latest in her 15+ year career. She’s developed her own personal brand of alternative rock reminiscent of Phantogram, Lana Del Rey, and Paula Cole. “Stupid Face” is out now via GNDWIRE records. Check it out via iTunes. Sea Span – “Refugees”

Sea Span combines wispy acoustic guitars, airy falsetto delivery, and electronic drums to create their own sparkly and ambient version of baroque pop. “Refugee” sounds like Dallas Green and the Postal Service collaborated, mixing delicate and passionate vocals with pop electronica vibes. Fans of City and Colour, Bon Iver, or Stars would dig Sea Span. “Refugee” is free if you’re willing to follow this link. fiancé – “h.a.g.s.”

Delaware quintet fiancé released a debut, self-titled record this past February… It was right around then that they started to feel a bit burnt out (real talk: being in a band is hard work). The dudes needed a refresher and decided to release their songs as they wrote them instead. “h.a.g.s.” is their first, post-self-titled. It’s a warbling, 80s-tinged indietronica jam a la Big Eater, Washed Out, or The Cure. Check out fiancé’s Bandcamp page if you’re into it. Hideout – “Changing Us All”

Hideout is the moniker of Manhattan-based glam-pop artist Gabriel Rodriguez (he also happens to be a longtime band member of Cults). “Changing Us All” is the latest cosmic jam off of his debut album, Rookie. His spacey indie rock would appeal to fans of Wavves, The Walkmen, or Real Estate. Rookie is out now on Thrill Me Records. Check it out here. Wake The Wild – “Pulse”

Wake The Wild is a quartet from LA poised to take over the world. Their sound is a unique blend of dance music, melodic and airy vocals, and organic live instrumentation. Their latest jam, “Pulse,” captures a unique feeling – “two people with chemistry meeting for the first time.” Fans of M83 or Cut Copy would be into WTW’s sensual funktronica. Lily Virginia – “TV Screens & Videos”

Brooklyn-based alt-pop artist Lily Virginia recently released a live sesh of her new jam “TV Screens & Videos.” Her latest effort, Play Me Twice, is a multimedia effort being released one video at a time. We dug “TV Screens” for it’s bouncy vibes, impossibly crisp instrumentals, and Virginia’s impressively reserved delivery. Fans of Local Natives, Hop Along, or Waxahatchee would dig Virginia. Lily Virginia’s A/V album can be found via YouTube. Check out her channel here.

Amy Guess – “10 Times Out Of 10”

Pop songstress Amy Guess recently hit us up with her new video for “10 Times Out Of 10.” About the track, Guess says, “’10 Times Out Of 10′ is a glimpse into my love story – being with someone a long time and experiencing all the highs and the lows and happiest and hardest moments, but throughout everything, you know you’d never want it to be anyone else.” We think she hit the nail on the head. “10” is a simmering pop jam with a video that’s both futuristic and reminiscent of the 80s. Amy is offering “10 Times Out Of 10” via iTunes.

Jumpa & Bad Paris Feat. Reece – “Don’t Go”

An American newcomer with a distinct voice, REECE, and two German producers; Jumpa and Bad Paris, teamed up for an exciting new collaboration titled “Don’t Go”. The producers’ different musical backgrounds and influences combined with Reece’s raspy vocals led to a fun and unique take on EDM and dance. Through and through, “Don’t Go” is an energetic urban pop hit with a strong, summer vibe. The trio is offering “Don’t Go” via this link. Raccoon Fighter – “LVLR”

Raccoon Fighter are hot off the release of “LVLR,” the first single from their upcoming EP, Hover Craft. “LVLR” is a raucous garage rock song at heart, but definitely leans toward its swirly psychedelic side, championing fuzzed out guitars and laid-back vibes. Fans of The Black Angels or Kyuss would dig Raccoon Fighter. Hover Craft, is due via PaperCup Music on August 26th. Till then, check them out on Bandcamp. Nick Shattuck & J. Roosevelt – “The Storm”

Producer and California native, J. Roosevelt, first heard “The Storm” live at a Hotel Cafe where songwriter Nick Shattuck was performing a minimal acoustic set with just a percussionist and his guitar. When Roosevelt approached Shattuck after his show to ask if he would be open to a remix, they both decided a collaboration was in order. “The Storm” is their end result, a moody, electronic torrent of dark rolling synths that maintains Shattuck’s bare bones Mississippi River roots while keeping the vibe contemporary and electronic. Shattuck and Roosevelt are offering “The Storm” for free via Soundcloud. FOB SAGET – “Infinity”

FOB SAGET. The name alone makes you kinda want to listen, right? “Infinity” is the newest offering from “producer/firetruck” FOB SAGET. It’s an intense combination of 80’s synthwave and future bass, featuring retro synths, heavy bass, and unique fills. FOB SAGET is offering “Infinity” for free via Soundcloud. The Ramona Flowers – “Skies Turn Gold”

The Ramona Flowers is a London quintet making made-for-the-dancefloor 80s pop. “Skies Turn Gold” was the first song written for their upcoming release, setting the stage for the rest of their pop record. Purposely pumped full of trusty dancefloor cliches, the song is simply a good time full of undeniable 80s influence. The Ramona Flowers’ next release, Part Time Spies, will be available next month. Till then, stream “Skies Turn Gold” below. Small Forward – “Rides”

Small Forward‘s music lies somewhere between retro psychedelic and the chillest of indie rock. The LA quartet has us vibing hard on “Rides.” This song was meant for chilling – the band pairs a groovy drumbeat with swirling synths and their slightly-effected vocals. Fans of Kurt Vile or Tame Impala would be into it for sure. Small Forward is offering a free download of “Rides” via Soundcloud. You know what to do.
