Tonight: Title Fight

For the second stop on their Fall 2015 headlining tour, Wilkes-Barre emo stalwarts Title Fight will be slinging their melodic post-hardcore bliss from the stage of the Studio at Waiting Room tonight. The band’s latest release, February’s Hyperview, takes on a guitar-driven, shoegaze-ish approach—something of a departure from the quartet’s hard-hitting pop-punk of yesteryear. Call it what you will (indie crossover, anyone?), Hyperview hits home in all the right places; expect to hear these tracks tonight. Joining Title Fight on their autumnal adventure is the infinitely eclectic songwriter Alex G, his latest effort Beach Music spanning genres like it’s nobody’s business. Much of it falls into an inimitably glassy vein of indie rock, like a transfixed Elliott Smith with cool kid riffs and spellbound vibes. Just Announced: Title Fight

Title Fight is a polarizing band. Their newest record, Hyperview, eschews the melodic hardcore/punk that their fanbase was built upon for chorus-drenched guitars and far-off vocals. But cries of indie-crossover have fallen upon deaf ears here at buffaBLOG, and we’re sure their stop through Buffalo will be a raucous time for punks and shoegazers alike. Rounding out the evening will be a set from the still-buzzing indie wunderkinds in Alex G. The show is all the way out on October 23rd, but sometimes these things tend to sell out. You can grab tickets starting this Friday at 10am for $15 or $17 if you wait until the day of.

Title Fight – Hyperview

The first time that I ever heard of Title Fight was in 2012 when I read a review bashing a single from the band’s new record, Floral Green. The write up stated the new track was a complete departure from Title Fight’s current sound at the time, and was not worth even listening to if you liked the band. Obviously, I had to go listen to the song, “Head in the Ceiling Fan.” From what I understood, Title Fight was a punk / post hardcore band, but this track was incredibly slow and dreamy. After hearing that song, I dug deeper into the band’s discography and really became a fan. When the band began dropping songs for new album, Hyperview, I was really surprised. These two new songs, first “Chlorine” and then “Rose of Sharon,” continued on the underwater sounding, dreamy path of “Head in the Ceiling Fan,” and the fact[...]
