Canterbury’s Wurld Series caught our ears with the articulate slacker rock of new single, “Queen’s Poisoner.” Bringing to mind the mid ’90s IDGAF vibes of Pavement, Grandaddy, and Guided By Voices, “Poisoner” casually meanders along with it’s mid-tempo, guitar-driven backbone. Jangly rhythm guitars warble consistently, but the real flair here comes from the “skronking” guitar solo that’s laden with the perfect amount of fuzz. Intelligent lyrics are another highlight – gotta hand it to a band that can make words like “masterful tactician” sound catchy.
