The Brooklyn transplants in Plastic Picnic serve up their best cinematic indie rock with their single “Berkeley.” This track is at the forefront of the band’s debut EP, set for release this fall. Combining soaring 80’s guitar lines, dreamy falsetto, and some soulful gusto, “Berkeley” comes across as equal parts moving and soothing. Formed from two Seattle duos who met up in the Empire state, the four-piece fit together like a perfectly cohesive puzzle, bonding over a love of stirring lyricism, soundscaping guitars, and analog synth.
