Soccer Mommy @ Electric City

Perpetually buzzing indie act Soccer Mommy plays the big stage at Electric City mid-week, which we will be using as a good music crutch to recover from what we thought was a rained-out Turnstile show on Sunday night, IYKYK. Since forming the project in 2015, Soccer Mommy (aka Sophia Regina Allison) has caught the ears of many with her melding of tender lyrics and grunge-y ethos, accented by hooks that simply deliver. If you are a fan of Snail Mail, Alvvays, or Tennis, then you’ll want to be at this.

Opening the night is Los Angeles-based indie pop act Dummy (recommended for fans of Yo La Tengo or Big Thief). Get there on time! $20.31,

The Melvins @ Electric City

For over 40 years, Melvins have made their mark in the grunge and metal scenes, sharing the stage with legends like Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails in the 90s and evolving their experimental sludge rock style to keeps fans engaged in 2025. Melvins are touring in support of their new album, Thunderball, which was written and recorded with the original 1983 line-up. Opening the night are Redd Kross, a West Coast alt-rock band that formed nearly 50 years ago (!). If you are a fan of 2am-at-the-Pink’s soundtrack (RIP), this is up your alley.

Sure, this might be a double dosage of Electric City this week… But when it hits it hits. $39.36 gets you up the stairs.

Marc Rebillet @ Buffalo RiverWorks

The year is 2020. You haven’t done anything social in 5 months, your ears are chaffed raw from ill-fitting masks, and you’re cold. Enter Marc Rebillet, aka Loop Daddy, who pops up on your YouTube algorithm for a live multi-hour show on the weekend mornings. The pandemic turned this New York City electronic improviser into a living room must-see, with his humorous lyrics, stank-face grooves, flash-y robes, and an array of guests (Wayne Brady and Tenacious D to name a few) that made his weekly YouTube residency a staple.

With the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, Rebillet has only become a bigger name in the music industry, doing pop-up shows on bodega corners in New York City and now selling out large venues. Next Tuesday promises to be an incredible experience where Loop Daddy builds, edits, and evolves a set live on stage. It’ll be $55.50 and well worth it because he will NEVER play at Buffalo RiverWorks again. You can tell your grandkids about it.
